Description: A seductive and seriously sexy bar and brasserie based in the famous Charterhouse Square, the Malmaison Brasserie is beautifully chic and contemporary, with mood enhancing down lighting and a lively atmosphere. With the a la carte menu changing seasonally, the wholesome, modern British cuisine is always first class. Alongside a separate menu of locally produced food, the extensive wine list reflects the brassiere's 'serious about wine' culture and will indulge your every need. The laid back bar area is popular with business folk looking to chill out after work over a few beers and cocktails, whilst the restaurant offers plenty of cosy corners and nooks for private chats. The Malmaison Brasserie is also a great choice for groups with semi-private vaults and a fabulous private dining room overlooking the brasserie. Coupled with the friendly, knowledgeable serving staff, an evening here will undoubtedly be a huge success.

Recommend the steaks at this restaurant! Service very friendly and attentive - both waiting service and the bar. Great atmosphere.

“Very pleasantly surprised!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 January 2014

Went for the DBB package for speed and convenience, but didn't have very high expectations -having experienced the dead hand of cost control and centralised menus at another Malmaison years previously...

Very pleasantly surprised! Very professional head waiter and brigade who managed to be incredibly friendly whilst keeping an eye on service generally. Food was much better than expected, albeit a limited menu - focus on strip steaks of very high quality (did they come direct from Smithfield market round the corner?). Excellent wine list (pity it was a work night with an exam looming next day).

Decor is cod-American diner complete with rock music - and a VERY naughty painting (think Hogarth - or a Grayson Perry - vignette...). Not a place for a special occasion for OAPs such as us,then - but a more-than-adequate hotel dinner. We had a fun meal, ate well and were looked after beautifully. Not bad for a dull old Thursday in January. We're actually planning to call back after a concert in the locality next week.

“Big step backwards”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 January 2014

We used to visit the restaurant in this hotel quite often; it offered a great combination of nice ambience, good food and it accepted discount cards during the week. Alas, no more. The downstairs restaurant is now off-limits for any discounts - whether or not it's empty (it was when we went). Instead, we ate in the upstairs 'brasserie' area. It's horrible, since it feels as though you are eating in the reception area itself. Zero sense of intimacy and privacy. Food was OK, but severely limited menu compared with what used to be offered. Unlikely to be going to the Malmaison again. What a pity!

“SO dissapointed”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 December 2013

I booked to do the Sunday brunch at Malmaison hotel last Sunday having seen the menu online which looked incredible, so much choice and really good value for money. I decided it would be the perfect place to go with my girlfriends for our annua Christmas lunch and booked a table a couple of weeks in advance to avoid dissapointment. When we got to the restaurant at 3pm we were greeted by confused staff who said the brunch ended at 3pm, why did they let me book a table for that time then?? They then kept us waiting for about ten minutes while they prepeared a table even though the restaurant was full of empty already made up tables. When we eventually sat down on a massive table for just three of us we were presented with the menus which were NOT anything like the menu online(about a quarter of the choice and mostly breakfasty options). I had been looking forward to the burger since i had booked the restaurant and it was nowhere to be seen, nor most of the other dishes or the cocktails or desserts that we wanted. When i pointed out to the waiter that the menu online was completely different and had much more choice he said "oh we changed the menu last month" so why was the website not updated with the new menu, i feel like were were lured under false pretences to this restaurant. When we stated how dissapointed we were they gave us the menu for the restaurant upstairs which was a bit more like the menu I had seen online and very pricey. Eventually feeling very dissapointed we decided to go for the new menu but they told us we had to move to the upstairs "restaurant" which was cold, completely empty and more like a lobby than a restaurant. The tables were so teeny i couldn't imagine how we could fit out food on them. They gave us the bar deinks menu which still didnt have the cocktail i wanted from the online menu but i found another one that looked ok but they said they were out of maple syrup so they couldnt make it. It really put a dampner on our day as we were looking forward to a nice day out with good food that we had seen online. In the end we walked out and took a cab to Burger and Lobster in Soho which was absoulutely fantastic, really wish we hadn't wasted our time with the Malmaison. I am not normally someone who can be bothered to write reviews but our whole experience here was so awful from beginning to end that I felt compelled to.

“Perfection”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 November 2013

Two meals in the brasserie - dinner and breakfast, and both were excellent.

Dinner
First class service, excellent food and wine and a great environment and ambience.

Breakfast
Mal breakfast is always great and London didn't let us down. Great selection, excellent service and great quality.
