Surreal experience relaxing in a hot tub overlooking the sights of London. Stayed with family and had booked 3 rooms in total including the Lucy suite. All rooms were nicely furnished and clean with either views of the shard or in the case of Lucy big Ben and the london eye.. If anything the Lucy was in need of a slight spruce up with with the curtains having a few noticeable rips. Service at breakfast had 10/10 for effort if not quite reaching that for overall service. The hotel was also in a lovely location with a few bars/bistros within the vicinity and my all time favourite London attraction Borough market within walking distance. Good bus service nearly right outside the hotel as well as tube stations within 10 mins walk. Good value and would consider a return visit especially to the Lucy suite.

We spent last weekend at the Bermondsey with our two Westie dogs and had a great time. Not only is Bermondsey itself a great foodie area (where our dogs were served drinks before we did - without exception), the hotel itself was very welcoming and comfortable.

For the standard of room it is exceptional value - everything clean and pristine, with good value drinks and food at the restaurant. Our only niggle was the Apple TV system, but reception helped us over a technical glitch and the problem was sorted.

This was our 4th stay here and we would definitely recommend it.

Room Tip: You can upgrade to get a view of the Shard, but not really worth it as you are so close. We were ri...

I stayed here on Saturday night with my daughter. It's supposed to be a boutique style hotel but I was disappointed by how ordinary it was, especially the bedrooms. I've stayed at boutique hotels abroad where everything is very quirky and different.
Ours was a standard room where the bed was at an angle across the room. The room looked a bit tired. The walls were decorated in a beige colour and the carpet was a plain green colour and dark coloured wood bedroom furniture. There was a TV in the room but we had great difficulty getting the remote control to work and only managed to get the TV stations once. A tea and coffee tray with a kettle were provided plus a fridge with one complimentary bottle of water and two wine glasses. The shower room was OK. There was a cracked floor tile and there was a bit of rotting wood on the door frame nearest the shower.
Our room was cold and the shower room heater was off. We tried the controls but without much success, cool air was still coming out of the air vents. We told the receptionist about this and she explained how the controls worked and that the shower room heaters were off because people had complained that their rooms were too hot. She said that she would go to our room and sort out the problem while we were out, which she did, as when we came back the shower room was warm and the setting on the controls for the room had changed but unfortunatley the room wasn't much warmer.
Apart from that the bed was very comfortable and warm and the room was quite quiet, although you could hear other guests walking along the corridor talking. Checking in and out was quick and easy.
I would stay here again because it's convienient for the part of London I want to be in.

Attended a friends Civil Partnership at the hotel and afterwards had drinks and a meal in the restaurant.

On arriving everything was well planned and the staff were on hand to show guests to the private rooms for the ceremony, afterwards we had drinks in an adjoining room before taking ourselves downstairs to the restaurant.

The restaurant is pleasantly laid out with plently of tables looking out onto the square, the service and the choice was excellent with nice size portions of food. We were not hurried (maybe as being a rainy Saturday afternoon they were not too busy). Overall if you live close by a good place to meet and have a catch up.

Room Tip: Good place to stay if you are visiting the capital as it is away from the centre but very close to B...

Not very comfortable, but with friendly staff and very good breakfast. The rooms are clean, but not with big spaces. A little bit noisy from the streets. The area where it is located is not excellent but good.

There is loads to commend Bermondsey Square Hotel - nice location, friendly staff, good service. However, the rooms were so very hot at night that I really wouldn't particularly want to return. We couldn't find any way to turn off the heated towel rail in the bathroom either, so there was nowhere to cool down. Other family members on a different floor had the same problem, as did other guests we overheard in the reception area. The other issue we had was with soundproofing between rooms. Had to listen to every moan and groan of pleasure from the next room - as loud as if they were in the same room - so overheating clearly wasn't an issue for them!
We ate one evening in the restaurant because everywhere else in the area was completely full, and it was a very enjoyable and high quality meal without paying too much. We also had breakfast there on one of the four days of our stay. Although the coffee was pretty lukewarm, it was a good breakfast (although I have to say our breakfasts on the other three days were at nearby Del'Aziz and were spectacular)
I don't like making negative comments on feedback sites but temperature adjustment and soundproofing are fairly straightforward issues to remedy, so I would certainly be keen to return if these were addressed. Thank you anyway, B2, for friendly service.

Dear Algal15
Thank you for your kind review. Following the cold spell 10days ago, we turned on the towel rails that had been off since February. Sure enough, our lovely English weather ebbs and flows and we have milder climates again, so we've turned them off again until it gets colder. In regards to your neighbors, I doubt they'll be complaining.
Kind regards

Stayed in lots of hotels and was a little disappointed given the hype on the webpage. This was a Red Letter day and billed as 'Boutique'. What does that mean? It is a bog standard hotel and not the best finish either. Two single beds pushed together to make a large bed which you fell down the middle. TV didn't work but got it going by rebooting the Apple TV box.

Perhaps it is Red Letter marketing issue? Having spoken to another couple at the hotel they were of the same opinion - Boutique??

Having said all that, it was clean and tidy, staff friendly, good location with pubs/restaurants plenty. We went to the Garrison which was excellent.

Breakfast was as good as I've had in recent trips, all freshly cooked and a fantastic selection of hot and cold.

All in all ok but not matching the Red Letter hype.

Dear Jon E
Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel. We do describe ourselves as a boutique hotel, others might call us quirky, what we are not is corporate or ubiquitous. Ten of our rooms have twin beds with zip link mattress' which are sometimes used as doubles dependant on demand. I am really sorry that they were not properly connected for your stay and I have spoken to my housekeeper to ensure that this doesn't happen again.
I hope that you will choose to return to Bermondsey Square on your next visit to London.
