Description: A firm fixture on the Blackheath restaurant scene for many years, Locale is, as the name suggests, about great, local neighbourhood dining. The menu by Executive Chef Paolo Barone, (past experience Osteria Basilico and the renowned Locanda Locettelli,) is an exciting mix of: homemade pasta and ravioli that Locale is famous for, with new fresh choices including a great seafood section and grilled meats. The seafood is based on the catch of the day and also brings affordable lobster to SE3. Specialist meats include steaks from Chianina beef, imported direct from Tuscany, cooked to perfection on a new Josper, the world's hottest indoor barbeque. The menu provides diners with the perfect mix of a treat, family favourites and the chance to branch out and experience some new tastes and flavours. The Locale bar has been given a new look with the addition of a truly stunning architecturally salvaged bespoke brass and copper bar. Discerning drinkers can enjoy a cocktail list worthy of the West End, a concise wine list designed to suit the restaurant menu and the best of London's craft beer. Locale looks forward with its new menu, bar and interior to continue to be the neighborhood restaurant and bar in Blackheath where great things happen.

Tried Locale for a meal. Entrance is upstairs with hostesses to meet and greet. The bar area is open plan to the restaurant and was quite busy. We ordered a cocktail, a singapore sling. Having started trying these now and again, having had them in Raffles, where they were created, this version was more akin to a soda, not sure where the alcohol went.
The Italian food was really disappointing. The focaccia was poor, as was the melanzane parmigiana, which was burnt on top and had very thinly sliced aubergine and lumps of bechamel sauce, but no flavour. The meatballs also lacked flavour, even a good pinch of oregano could lift that. Sorry, but we must have been there on a bad night. May try to visit some time in the future for a drink but would skip dinner. That said, staff are very friendly.

Not much to say here, its very much what any restaraunt should be. Really nice food, lovely atmosphere and good service.

Only negative I could think of is that some of the tables are very close to each other.

I have visited locale on numerous occasions and twice for my birthday (my restaurant of choice in the local area) and have always left with a smile on my face.

The ambience of the restaurant is quite romantic and attractive with low level lighting, a dark interior and pretty candles. There is a bar area where you can have a cocktail or drink before you eat which makes the dining experience a little more special.

The service is friendly, helpful and attentive.

Price is at the top end for the Greenwich/Blackheath area though it is well worth it. They also offer fixed price midweek deals.

Also if you sign up to their mailing list you can get a free bottle of prosecco if you go there for your birthday! (Another reason it is my number one destination!)

Overall lovely restaurant and looking forward to our next visit!

On arrival the first thing we noticed was the beautiful decor, fabulous cocktail list from which I had a Margarita. Great wine list, BF chose an Italian Shiraz which was lovely so we ordered a bottle with dinner. Starters we shared antipasti & calamari AMAZING! BF commented it was the best calamari he'd tasted. Antipasti was beautiful with a range of meats & fresh bread. Mains we chose the Cod with Cannelloni Beans, we really enjoyed it. Passed on dessert as we were stuffed. The coffee was the perfect way to end a 4 star evening which was complimented by the 5 star service.

Visited the restaurant on Friday just gone, really impressed with the food and we had a fab night for my friends birthday and we loved Paris the singer! The only downfall, although may sound silly, the stairs into the restaurant are really dangerous, my friend fell in her loubs and cut her foot which hurt her all night! Not safe for any ladies in heels as there's massive gaps and they are really uneven! We will def visit again but we'll be cautious in future, especially if we have heels on!
