“A Disappointing Return Visit”
Reviewed 20 July 2014

We dined here a couple of years ago. We have two young children so the fact it opens around 5.30pm for dinner is good for us. We expected the same standard of food as last time but were sorely disappointed... The food was poor, my wife commented our local pub grub was better. The restaurant has had a recent refurb and the service is good, but we paid £135 with tip for four which included 2 adult starters, 2 mains, 2 children's meals and 3 glasses of wine and sundries. Needless to say we aren't going back and I would not recommend this restaurant to families.

“A Lovely Tea”
Reviewed 23 May 2014

My husband and I had the pleasure of having tea at the Aubrey Restaurant recently. We were greeted at the door and shown to the lounge where tea was served. The room exudes old world charm with couches, marble tables and gilt framed oil paintings. Thanks to George service was friendly and relaxed. My husband selected green tea and I had Earl Gray. Both were good and the pots were refilled on request. Two double tiered plates of goodies promptly arrived. On one was an assortment of finger sandwiches (smoked salmon, cucumber, egg salad and ham) as well as scones with clotted cream and strawberry jam. On the other was a variety of cakes (two carrot, strawberry shortcakes and almond) as well as a fruit tart and a creamy parfait. The food was delicious and plentiful. It was a lovely way to spend a wet and breezy London afternoon. I would highly recommend.

“Afternoon Tea”
Reviewed 20 May 2014

We booked in for afternoon tea and was told we had to book, which wasn't necessary as we were the only people there.

The good things:

- The tea was delicious. I had green tea with a slice of lemon.
- The cakes were beautiful, and there were lots of them!
- The atmosphere was great, very relaxing and although we were the only ones there it didn't feel empty.

The not so good things:

- The white bread had gone a little hard, so either the bread was off or they had made them a while ago and not stored them correctly.
- The waitress had told us there was a special offer on which included a glass of champagne for £25. In fact the offer didn't exist and the waiter refused to go and clarify so we had to pay £10 extra each.
- They had building work going on, so there were loud drilling noises at some points.

Pretty average really, the service was good until there was a problem and then they didn't know what to do, so just kept saying no. There are probably better places in London for the same price. We left very underwhelmed.

Very nice venue but the food is extremely disappointing. Service was also very slow though the restaurant was quite empty. I will definitely not go back there for a meal, maybe for a tea...
