On a warm sunny day after the wow factor of the Shard my birthday treat included a special 3 course lunch starting with a cocktail. The restaurant is tucked away close to Liverpool St but only 15 minute walk. A welcome from the manager into a period style restaurant with crisp clean table clothes and napkins where waiters offer a high standard of service. Kipper pate to start was really tasty and steak was cooked to order with choice of sauce. My husband chose fish cake stuffed full of salmon bathing in holland aisle sauce. Portions are generous so did not finish side orders of new pots and buttered spinach but made room for Burnt Cambridge cream (better known as Creme brûlée). As restaurant filled up with other diners and a small wedding party the atmosphere reflected adults out to enjoy themselves. Only bottled beers but great standard for grill style meal.
