“Surprisingly good budget hotel”
Reviewed 13 August 2014

Finding at good hotel with a limited budget is difficult in London. The ABC Hyde Park is an exception. Of cause the rooms are very small, but this is just the way to get the price down.
Although the hotel has a very central location, you are not disturbed by noise during your sleep.
The hotel was nice and clean, and the staff was very service-minded. The standard breakfast for London hotels in this class is "toast and jam", but the food at ABC Hyde Park is way above that level (Don't expect luxury food - Then book the Savoy or similar...)
So if you need a central London budget hotel, with the ABC Hyde Park, you will get value for your money.
My only concern was a missing fire escape ladder at the back side of the building - I would feel safer with that.
The ABC Hyde Park hotel will get my recommendation for a London City stay.

Room Tip: Rooms to the back side is more quiet, and get more sun (could be a disadvantage due to lack of air-c...

I went there with my family in July to show London.
The location was very nice, on Sussex Gardens, close to the tube and Hyde Park.
But the hotel was quite a bad experience. The room were ridiculously small, we could barely put our two luggages in it, they were dirty, not well isolated, the decoration was HORRIBLE, and the sheets were full of hairs and other disgusting things ... We asked if they could take care of it, they told us they would but the hairs were still there when we came back ... And it was outrageously EXPENSIVE for the quality.
The included breakfast was ok, the staff was rather nice, despite the fact that the receptionnist made us pay for two cabs when obviously one was enough.
I will definitely NOT RECOMMEND this place nor go there ever again.

Room Tip: No room at all, do not go there!

There is no doubt that this hotel is in a good location. However, the hotel is rather shabby, and you need to get your luggage up long flights of narrow stairs to rooms that have seen better days and are very small. As with most hotels of this type it has no airconditioning and open window are over busy streets in a tourist area so are evenitably noisy.

Despite being told that my credit card was required to secure the room and that I had up to a couple of days beforehand to cancel. I was also told that I would pay on departure. None of that turned out to be true. Payment was taken immediately that I made the booking and then a few days before I was due to stay the owners tried to take a second payment from my acount. Luckily my bank refused the second payment because they recognised that I had already paid.

Breakfast was what you expect at most cheap eurpoean hotels. If anyone is expecting to experience a full English breakfast then this is not the place that will happen. In fact the last time I had a breakfast offering quite like this was in a budget hotel in Tunisa.

I think many of the hotels in the area will be much the same. And if this had been a budget hotel it would have been fair enough. But in fact it was quite expensive, only a little cheaper than a holiday inn. Therefore this did not represent good value for money.

Room Tip: I am not sure that you can choose a good room

Small room, old and badly equipped. The window couldn't be opened in an ordinary way, we had to use a clothes hanger to make the window stay opened! The breakfast was lousy, some of the bread even not fresh.. It didn't look very tasty.
The best thing was the location, near two tube stations, Paddington and Lancaster gate.
Will certainly not visit the hotel again:-(

We booked well in advance, asked for not many stairs, and that we would arrive before 2pm. We where put 3 floors up 6 flights of stairs. The shower unit was falling apart. We opened the window and it fell out. If your a Brit going here looking for a full English breakfast in London don't hold out much hope. Breakfast room was cramped sharing salt in egg cups,

Booked two rooms in May. Rooms 308 and 316. The rooms were quite small but not too bad for the price the only downside was the small shower and slow water. Other than that the service was very good and they were eager to please. Customer service always makes a stay!
