Stayed in triple room. Room was basic and small, had no elevator, steps were a bit narrow, not suitable for those with large luggage. Had to queue for breakfast. Very good location. Clean and comfortable room. Luggage store available. Friendly and helpful staff. Recommended if you are just looking for a place to sleep with very basic facilities.

Stayed for two nights, a typical transit hotel but clean, tidy and staff friendly.
Rooms small but functional and no problems experienced. Breakfast basic but no end of choice nearby for meals. Convenient for the whole of the city, transport links fantastic and St Pancras station just amazing and not to be missed.

Me and my friends went to London for 4 nights to see Take That and do some sight seeing, we picked the Elmwood because of price and location.... After reading some reviews I wasn't particularly looking forward to staying here but upon our arrival I was pleasantly surprised. The best thing about staying here is the location! Its central and perfect for exploring, down the road is a Mcdonalds and a shop plus a bank which is useful. The reception staff are friendly , room was clean and the bed was comfortable. All we wanted was a hot shower and a comfy bed and this hotel is perfect. There was a few bad things to point out... We stayed in a triple room even though there was only 2 of us. U would never of fitted 3 people in the triple room. If u only want juice and toast breakfast is fine don't expect anything more. Overall this hotel provided a pleasant stay for a few nights in a busy city and I would recommend it.

Last Saturday I desperately needed to stay in London overnight for a friend's birthday, and after some 2 hours spent traipsing around the West End trying to find a hotel that had rooms available, the Elmwood Hotel popped up - I was ready to accept anything at this time!

When booking, I was advised the room was £100 - I thought to myself, fair enough, its in the middle of London near Euston and Kings Cross, conveniently placed...so that's a reasonable rate.

BOY WAS I WRONG UPON CHECK IN.

I have never stayed in a room that was so incredibly SMALL, it reminded me of being back at University in my student dorm days. They called my room a "Double", seemingly because although the bed could just about fit one person it had two pillows...hardly enough room to move around in and the room just did not feel comfortable at all.

The Bathroom was very small, with just about enough room to turn around in - limited space for toiletries and a very small sink. No air ducts in the bathroom so heat would linger, and so did any smells unfortunately!

The window opened up onto a courtyard for what I presume was staff, and you could look into other guest rooms just by poking your head out, hardly private.

On the upside, the TV worked - unlike a lot of hotels I've been in. And there was a bible, hooray!

I have never liked places that insist you leave the room key with reception upon going out of the hotel - and my experience clearly demonstrates why. Upon coming back to the hotel after my friend's birthday, in a sober state (I don't drink), the hotel door was locked so I was buzzed into reception. "Hi, I'm in room 6, the name is Mr. XXXXXXX, please may I have my key". To which the night porter replied. "Someone has already checked into your room". To which, I replied "WHAT?!?! Sorry, someone is in room 6?"......."We have no rooms available tonight".............."Are you sure you're staying in this hotel?"............"You're staying at The Elmwood Hotel?"............"Are you sure?"............. "What room was you in again?"..........."What's your name?". If your reception staff cannot be trained on basic English and computing skills, then you have a serious problem. This whole ordeal really p****ed me off, especially considering I was sober and I was being treated like an imbecile.

Breakfast was a SHAMBLES. 'Continental' has always been a dodgy one in my eyes, with most hotels having different opinions on what constitutes a "continental breakfast". Elmwood seemingly things this is a slice of toast, concentrated orange juice, a poor attempt at a coffee, processed cheese from a local supermarket, and two slices of ham. Very unfulfilling and disappointing, and ended up leaving the breakfast area after 5 minutes and went to the local McDonalds!

I would not stay at this hotel again - yes, it's suitable for those looking for just a crashpad overnight, but at the price for each room I would recommend you look elsewhere. Very unimpressed

Room Tip: Don't turn up sober at 4am like I did, and be questioned about whether I was actually staying at...

I stayed for three days. It is convenient for its location and price. The breakfast was ok, the staff was present in the reception all day. The rooms and bathrooms were really small, but for me it was not a big deal. Special mention to the ladies serving the breakfast, they were really kind. It was nice to start a day with a friendly smile!

staff at reception were very friendly and very accomodating with requests. rooms are simple, maybe not really 3 star and at 50Pounds a night expensive, but then again its London. Barclays bike rental and tube just round the corner, quiet leafy street
