As a City worker for over 10 years, I know Bury Court has been around a long time. However, its's not till recently this has become our Company's favourite haunt. I come here at least 2-3 times a week with my colleagues.
The food served for lunch is outstanding. I would advise not to eat from the main menu, but instead choose a dish from the daily specials. One of my personal favourites is the Grilled Swordfish - very hard to come by these days! The specials are fresh food served simply and there's always an impressive selection all served at very reasonable prices - the value is fantastic!
Furthermore, once lunch is over we return to the office, only to then come back once work is done. There are HALF PRICE drinks from 5pm till 8pm every day! We've held company parties here, after-work drinks and the place is a melting pot for any socialite in the City. By far the most stylish and 'on-point' bar around.
By this I mean the music is always suitable for the time of day, never too loud and never too quiet - it's amazing how other bars just don't seem to get this right.
The atmosphere in the evenings is electric. People all around enjoying themselves whether it be for an intimate quiet drink with friends, or a buzzing party with a large group of colleagues. There also a large spacious outdoor area for smokers, or even if you want to grab the last of the day's sun.
The bar service always stays strong too. There are always adequate staff on hand to help with drink selection, waitress service all day and night, and I've never had a long wait at the bar - even during the very busy happy hours!
Expect the crowd to be a real mix of ages, professions and backgrounds, but most importantly expect them to be genuinely nice people with an air of respect and maturity toward one another.
I can't give the staff enough praise. They are always smiling, helpful and no job is ever too big for them. Again, it's so hard to find this nowadays in bars around the area, but the staff here take so much pride in their work its refreshing to see, and it reflects in their service.
In particular, the General Manager John (I forget his surname) has transformed this venue from what was just another 'face in the crowd,' into an exciting, bustling and great place to be. He's always on hand to help further, always a smile on his face, and really seems to care. Again, another rarity in this day and age.
It's so good to see a place that recognises and rewards your loyalty rather than take it for granted!
Overall - an outstanding achievement in food, drink, atmosphere, service and value and I hope to still be visiting in years to come!
