Been here twice now - on both occasions had to wait 25 mins for our table that we had reserved. Both times unhas paid a deposit and on each occasion they had “forgotten” to take it off the bill....

Having said that food is actually incredible - the lamb chops are divine. Great prices all round.

The service on our first visit was great - our waitress Sara explained everything perfectly and helped us to order the perfect amount for our table.

The second time we went was almost shambolic. The food was great but the waiters pretty much forgot we existed. I had to get up off the table twice to ask for them to clear the dirty plates that we sat in front of for 25 mins. They still didn’t clear the table. We had to get up to ask for the bill which came without the deposit deducted. No dessert ordered- i guess it would have meant that they would have had to clear the table...

Might try brunch when it’s not so busy....

We were late arriving for our booking and had limited time before we had to leave for an event. This was no trouble at all to the staff who took our orders quickly and ensured the drinks and food were not delayed. The food is amazing, unusual, fresh and very well cooked. It works on a small dish sharing basis and the sizes are more than adequate. Good selection of plates to suit all requirements. We will definitely return.

We went in on a Wednesday night and the restaurant had a good amount of people. The overall ambience is quite pleasant, the high ceilings make it that the noise isn't conversation impairing which happens in a lot of smaller restaurants. The restaurant is elegant and tastefully decorated.

We ordered various dishes and they were all very tasty. Our group all had different preferences for the various dishes but overall it was well prepared food and the menu had a good variety to choose from.

We ordered the peanut and flat chickpea chaat, chettinad pulled pork, kashmiri lamb chops, saag with tandoori paneer, fried okra, a meat filled doughnut (can't remember what it was called) and the dark chocolate shrikhand. We started off with a Kitty Party Bellini which was quite interesting as it had mango, fresh coriander and a whole chilli. While I appreciate the originality it is not a drink I would like to have again, but props to keeping the drinks original and interesting!

I also thought that the service received was attentive, not spectacular by any means but adequate for sure.

On entering Gunpowder, there was literally no staff to be seen. We had to wait for more than 15 mins whilst being completely ignored by the staff . When one of the waiters finally made eye contact, with the most insolent laugh, he said he will be with us in two minutes (which resulted in us waiting for way more than two minutes and he started using an alternative route so that he doesn't pass us by). Every single waiter was pretending not to notice that there were two people standing by the door waiting to be served (and there were plenty of available tables). Finally, I had to go in and approach him as the situation was getting ridiculous at this point. He then started laughing again saying the tables had to be cleaned first and someone will be with us in two seconds this time. Then another waiter came to us asking if we had a booking and made this weird comment that we can't be seated but we could be if we ordered everything now not bit by bit (whatever that meant) as the kitchen was closing soon. Once we were seated, we weren't offered water despite it being offered to the table next to us (they were seated ASAP). We ordered two portions of the cardamom pancakes and they arrived at different times which is usually not standard practice. On top of that the pancakes were burnt, tasteless and very greasy.

Although the menu sounds very promising and we would like to go back for dinner, we doubt we will because of the poor service!!

Have been to the original Gunpowder and though fun was too cramped.

This is much more spacious and comfortable so able to really enjoy the food and atmosphere.

We had a range of different small plates. The lamb chops were excellent. Chicken lovely moist and succulent.

Highly recommend a visit.
