Searcys has a lovely interior, friendly staff and a fantastic array of food on offer.

I visited the restaurant in October 2013 so my review is somewhat delayed but my family have been back since my last visit and still have no major qualms.

I was in a dining party of three. Between us we had, hanger steak with salad, sticky pork ribs, Confit duck followed by chocolate tarts.

The steak was perfectly cooked, the sticky pork ribs were delicious and the meat came right off the bone. The confit duck was executed extremely well. The dishes were all of a good size for the price and quality of the food.

The chocolate tarts had the perfect amount of chocolate.

One problem we had, service was good when the waiters were around. It is sometimes difficult to obtain their attention and considering that this restaurant is within an International train station service should be paramount as often people are in the midst of an on going journey.

I recommend reserving a table and if you are in a hurry make this known to your waiter on arrival.

Such a big treat. It was expensive but a great start and place to meet our friends before our train trip to Berlin at the beginning of June. I think you can have a walk around to have a look without a fee. We only stayed for about an hour. Which was fine. We were getting a train but it is available apparently for bookings but I connote comment on that. So i can only say, good for an hour. We greatly enjoyed our short time there.

but that is nothing to shout about, as it is more reminiscent of a railway platform, lacking any sense of intimacy or warmth, than a place to meet someone special. Ive enjoyed airport departure lounge more than this!
The staff are helpful in recommending the most expensive product, but apart from that are pretty disinterested, probably because the place was pretty empty - and that tells its own story. And the bill was higher than was justifiable for a few glasses of bubbly and some prawns.
Not the kinda place to take someone special!

Went today to celebrate a birthday. Booked in advance for afternoon tea. The service was very poor. Our request for one gluten free was totally mixed up and we had to ask for it to be changed when we realised that the gluten free was In fact not. Sandwiches were not freshly made and therefor did not taste that good. Our teapot was chipped we were served our tea without cups or milk which may sound trivial but when the bill was in 3 figures one expects a three figure service! The bill had £17.00 service charge added which after the poor service we had should not have been added . Go elsewhere .

A birthday treat was a Champagne breakfast for us both whilst waiting for the Eurostar to Brussels. A good start was seeing the statue of John Betjeman admiring the majestic station that he helped to save. We had a choice of sitting under the impressive glass roof or going inside - a no brainer really. We were shown to our seats and interacted with two very professional waiters who gave us time to soak in the atmosphere next to the Eurostar platforms and choose from the appetising selection.

The newspapers were a day old, but it was 8am. The hearty breakfast and the Champagne arrived promptly and the waiters kept a close but subtle eye on our requirements. A few extra coffees and a relaxed time without any hint of wanting us to move on - mind you we had two hours according to the booking.

Not cheap, but not expensive given the location. A great way to start a holiday.
