Visited this pub in November for a meal but was told we were too early as food service was not due to start for 45 mins. Ok we said we will have a drink and wait but requested a look at the menu in the meantime. Well the menu never came in spite of constant requests, guess that was a NO then, we should have taken the hint and left then. When food service did start it was no great event, our order was taken and we added a bottle of wine, the barman was only interested in up selling the wine even though I was the customer and made my choice. The food arrived after another long wait and we could not beleive....it was cold. We were the first order of the evening, nobody else eating and they could not even manage that. We complained and the food was returned, we requested new food. We bought another drink as the wine was long gone. After around 20 to 30 mins the new food was served it was hot although the white cabbage was more core that leaves and was nasty, they served it with a red wine sauce which was very odd. We were totally ignored by the staff and left in disgust. We had paid at time of order, lucky for them. We complained to Youngs who own the pub and they investigated, they were told by the manager we were offered free deserts.... WE WERE NOT. The fault was a faulty microwave he told them. We never expected re-heated food of such terrible customer service. They could have settled the problem on the night but choose to ignore us and cover their tracks with the brewery. To be fair Youngs later offered a free meal at a different venue for April 2012, our next visit to London, we will see.
My final comment is don`t bother to review Youngs pub on their website, seems they dont publish neutral or negative reviews. Guess thats why so few reviews are published especially for the Porchester.
