Visited here for lunch - menu pretty varied and the daily specials very good value at £6. My main could have been served slightly warmer but all in all an OK lunch. Venue was quiet but this might have been as it was a nice day and this venue underground is underground so may not be peoples first choice.

Our team frequent this bar fairly regularly, mainly because of the convenient location to our office.

The food is very well priced and the service is usually fine. The decor seems to change quite often without noticable improvement.

It's not great on a summer's day, being a basement bar with no natural light and also, it's not really "across the street" from Lloyd's. It's down the road by a couple of 100 metres.

A handy option for a lunch or evening drinks.

5 of us visited Pause at lunch with visitors from India. We chose the restaurant for it's close proximity to our office and previous pleasant dining experience. This turned out to be a mistake.

The good things - friendly (slightly inexperienced) waitress. Good platter selection for starter (we chose Vegetarian and Oriental). Yummy desserts. Nice ambience in restaurant (if slightly noisy at peak lunch time 1-2).
The bad things - No staff greeted us upon arrival. Slow service (40 minutes before starters arrived). Flat coke. Warm orange juice. Overcooked steak, fish and chips. Problems with paying by card (machine not working).

All in all I think it was a very disappointing visit. I wouldn't recommend it to a friend for lunch. The bar and staff seem better suited to the drinks/snacks menu. Clearly they couldn't cope with the number of diners at the time of our visit. Almost all the food was overcooked.

Paid approx £120 for 5 people.

I purchased a deal on Groupon and made a booking at Pause with a few friends. The ambience of the bar is nice and we were excited about the cocktail menu.

We were early for our booking and were not greeted by the anyone so I had to stop the waitress to ask whether we could be seated earlier than our reservation time. We sat down at 6.30pm. The bar runs a Happy Hour promotion between 5-7pm and we wanted to order food and drink to take advantage of this promotion. The waitress did not attend to us until 6.55pm. We proceeded to order from the Happy Hour menu and were advised that we were unable to as it was past 7pm. We highlighted across 4 watches that this was not correct to which the response was 'It says 7.05pm on our tills so I cannot change this'. We asked to speak to the manager and the waitress disappeared and then came back to say that the manager confirmed it was possible.

We ordered 2 platters and cocktails and one additional dish from the 3 for £10 menu and opened a tab. Our food arrived before the drinks and the additional dish of cocktail sausages arrived when we finished our platters and after prompting the staff that it had not arrived! We asked to add a further 2 dishes to take advantage of the 3 for £10 promotion and was advised by the waitress that as she had already put the sausages through she was unable to do this!! We challenged why it could not be changed as there was an open tab and it was not like we were asking for a refund, and she stomped off to make the change. At which point, we were fuming about the service and told her not to bother and asked for the bill.

The food was also horrendous with too much salt, was cold, and burnt. The only semi decent thing was the sausages which were late!! By 9pm, the place was dead and I can see why.

Will not recommend this place to anyone.
