Four of us had an average meal then went to order our desert, to be told the kitchen was shut at 21:30 on a Sunday and they had been far too busy to of come and told us this

A busy pub, popular as an after work stop for locals. A good range of beers and the food is above average for a pub and the Sunday roast is good with more than ample portions. It is packed out in the early evening and it can be noisy due to conversation. Staff friendly and helpful. Combines food and character much better than most.

We booked a table for 2 on Easter Sunday. It seemed nicely decorated. Ordered the pork and turkey roasts after enquiring about the beef (which was only available well done!) We did not have to wait too long for dried out meat and flavourless veg, with extra sides of basically leeks and cauliflower in warm cream. Only redeeming features were the Yorkshire pudding and roast potatoes, which were pleasant. We then ordered a raspberry and peach crumble and the Black Forest kirsch trifle. To be fair the crumble was nice, especially the apple sorbet, if you don't mind a light crumble sprinkled over cooked fruit. However the trifle was really a low point of the meal: ready made custard combined with fruit and sponge which could have been any flavour. Having sent the trifle back, we got a solid, cloy brownie in return. Overall, the Toby Carvery does a much nicer and more satisfying Sunday lunch, without even considering the price difference. We told the staff of our experiences but they did not seem interested, and only reluctantly, when asked, took the trifle off our bill. Needless to say, we won't be returning in a hurry.

We only popped in this pub for a pint of lager and it is expensive. The place itself is shoddy to say the least. There are others nearby which are cheaper for drinks. My advise is ask before you buy with pubs in London.

Nice local pub. Busy on Sunday afternoon but managed to stay there for a couple of hours whilst waiting for train home. Sunday roast was delicious as were the vino and G & T. Went home very happy
