“CourtauLd Gallery”

A must see if you're a real art lover. This is not by any mean a commercial and touristic gallery. It's a very well kept secret as we found that very few people were visiting the gallery. The building it self worth the visit and the collections are just amazing.

LOVELY AFTERNOON SPENT À COURTAULD !

“Lovely, perfectly small scale museum”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 June 2014

In a city full of massive, world-class museums, it's a joy to come across a smaller but high quality museum. The Courtauld Gallery, in Somerset House, was a wonderful place to stroll in, both the outdoor yard with the fun fountains and the interior collection of notable artwork. I found one of my favorite paintings here - "Bar at the Folies Bergeres" by Manet, and was transported, gazing into the barmaid's eyes that seemed to see so much...

“Great collection”

I am not the world's greatest art aficionado - but this was a really interesting collection - small but really interesting. Very centrally located at Somerset House on the Strand.

“Quiet and nice”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 June 2014

This is a terrific gem tucked away and somewhat hidden from the hustle and bustle of London. Though it is right in the middle of things. Great place for a rainy cold day visit.

“Excellent collection of iconic paintings by Impressionist masters!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 June 2014

This cosy but marvellous gallery charges for entry (6GBP per adult on all days, half-price on Mondays except Bank Holidays) but it is worth every penny of the entrance fee! The paintings are displayed in cosy drawing rooms that allow the visitor to feel up close and personal. And as there is an entrance fee, there aren't the large crowds that throng the National Gallery or Tate Modern and which can get in the way of appreciating the wonderful artworks on display.
The collection of Impressionist paintings is outstanding! From Renoir to Manet to Seurat to Cezanne ... one can spend hours just enjoying the paintings! Go and see the paintings for yourself! You won't regret the time spent there!
