Owner description: The Courtauld Gallery is one of the finest small museums in the world. Its collection stretches from the early Renaissance into the 20th century and is particularly renowned for the unrivalled collection of Impressionist and Post-Impressionist paintings. The Gallery also holds an outstanding collection of drawings and prints and fine example of sculpture and decorative arts.

The gallery featured a fantastic range of art, renaissance and medieval right through to contemporary art. And great explanations for each exhibit.
I did find the beauty of the building distracted you from the art, until I realised that a lot of the rooms were in themselves art or decorated as same!
The cafe is very well priced and serves a killer "Hearty Soup". Well worth a visit, especially with the lovely lady who served my mother and I. Real character and genuine pleasantries!
Worth the admission fee!

I visit this little gallery two or three times every year. The basement cafe is a great place to meet up with friends.
I never tire of the impressionist pictures which are kept in a beautiful vibrant condition.
There is a little shop where I often find ideal books as present for my grandchildren. A added bonus is that frequently one finds other interesting art based events within Somerset House

My university (King's College London) is utilizes half of the building (Somerset House). It's beautiful, plus the Courtauld gallery will appeal to art lovers. Keep in mind though thats its tiny.

lovely interior with many impressionist paintings by artists like Van Gogh, Manet, Gauguin etc. The staffs are so friendly always have a smile on their face. It's right next to the Somerset house so don't forget to chill at the courtyard when you are done for a cup of coffee and liquid nitrogen icecream.

AFter wading through the crowded and noisy National Gallery, British Museum, and Victoria & Albert, we came upon the Courtauld one afternoon. What a pleasure! It was full of lovely art and was not crowded or noisy. A nice respite at grand Somerset House.
