“Base yourself here while in London!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 January 2013

Apartment 17 was an amazing place to spend our time in London. We had the upstairs apartment for two visits in December, one at the beginning of the month, and the other over Christmas. The apartment owner was incredibly helpful, and fantastic to deal with. The apartment itself is in a great location - just a couple of minutes walk (if that) from the Marylebone tube and train station, and from there it's very quick and easy to get pretty much anywhere in London. The street is very peaceful, and the bedroom is set at the back of the property - so there was no street noise at all. There is a Tesco Express just around the corner, and there are heaps of shops and restuarants just a short walk away.

The rooms were spacious, and having a full kitchen was great - especially for the Christmas stay when we cooked a full Christmas dinner for us and a couple of relatives. There was all the implements and bowls, pans and equipment we needed (including a full size fridge/freezer, a microwave, an big oven with 4 ring electric hob on top, and lots of bench space as well). Free wi-fi, and free phone calls to a large number of countries too. The apartment was clean and tidy, and really felt like a home away from home. This is a self-catering apartment, so you're expected to supply everything you need, and to leave the apartments tidy and rubbish free when you leave. We were absolutely fine with this, as it is common for these types of apartments - but it is something to consider if you have always stayed at hotels.

Overall we had a great time in London, and this aprtment was ideal for our needs. If you're looking for something with a bit more space than a London hotel room, and for the same (or cheaper) price, then this is for you!

Apartment 17 with it's great London location, and super access to the tube is a wonderful property to stay in especially when families are traveling together. Two families rented both apartments for our stay, and really enjoyed the charming property. The owner, Sian, was so helpful in accommodating our large group with 4 teenagers, who loved being able to hang out easily together. Each apartment was lovely, and the added bonus of kitchen/laundry facilities was a wonderful plus. We loved staying here, and will be back!

Would def stay here again. I screwed up royally when I gave the owner the wrong arrival date. Since they don't live on the premises, they have to travel to the apartment to greet you, give you keys, etc. Before I had left for London, I had a voice mail from the owner asking where I was, she waited for me for several hours, etc. I felt horrible. As a result, I expected them to charge me for the additional night and they didn't. I give them a lot of credit for that. Also, we were planning to use the washer and dryer in the apartment prior to leaving. Unfortunately, it had just broken and wasn't repaired before we left. The owners were ready to drive to the apartment, pick up our laundry, bring it to their home to wash/fold and deliver back to the apartment. Considering my screw up and them not charging us the additional night that they thought we were staying, I was very much impressed. I agree with some of the issues that previous reviewers indicated. With the exception of the toilet paper, I was very much impressed with what was stocked in the apt such as coffee, creamer, teabags, etc. Also, there were restaurant recommendations in their binder of info as one reviewer indicated there was not. The owners are very down to earth and accommodating. I'd stay there again in a heartbeat.

My wife and I spent a week here in September 2012. We stayed in the second floor apartment, which is the cheaper of the two. At £120/night, the price is reasonable but I think there should be some sort of price break if you stay for a week or month.

Leading up to our trip, I found the owners were rather indifferent compared to other apartment owners we've rented from. The whole rental process via email didn't instill much confidence in me. Regardless, everything worked out well.

The apartment is sparsely decorated and somewhat basic. We were given 1 roll of toilet paper for the week, which was a little strange. Given another reviewer's mention of lack of toilet paper in January 2012, I suspect this issue isn't going away.

They also suggest you throw out your household garbage at the train station. There was one tiny garbage can in the apartment. A coffee table or bedside tables/shelves would've been nice. Even their binder of apartment information was lacking. Most offer sightseeing tips or some restaurant and shopping recommendations. There was no guestbook either. These missing things don't make this apartment bad but they do make it feel less personable.

Despite all this, the apartment is very well located. You really are a 2 minute walk from Marylebone station. There's a Tesco Express around the corner and a M&S Food at the train station. Being on the Bakerloo line made getting around the city so convenient. Harewood Ave, where the apartment is located, is quiet at night so you won't be woken up at night. The building itself is quiet too. I liked having windows on both sides of the apartment, which allow for some cross breeze.

As I stated in the title of my review... this is an average apartment in a fantastic area.

Stayed here 2 nights last week before moving onto Belgium. Paid £120 per night which was cheaper than a premier inn and for this we got the whole apartment. Great location, 2 mins walk from Marylebone tube station which also has an M&S food, also 20 mins walk from Lords cricket ground, which was great for us as we went to a 20/20 match, the weather however was a different story, but this is England. Lovely comfy bed and good to hear the birds at 6am in the centre of london. Nice having the option of eating out or in, provided all crockery, cutlery, pots and pans, including kettle, toaster and microwave. Free wifi throughout, we stayed on the top floor apartment, the building has 2, and it suited us perfectly. It made us have a serious rethink about staying in a hotel in London again. Will def recommend, thanks for a fab stay.

We stayed in the first floor apartment for five nights and would heartily recommend it to anybody. We have been visiting London off and on for many years and this is the first reasonably priced accommodation we've found that we'd return to.

Yes, the bedroom in this apartment is small and the bed is up against the wall, and yes there is no toilet roll holder. But compared with budget London hotels rooms where you hardly have room to put down a suitcase, this apartment is fantastic.

There were several big pluses: the relatively large and comfortable living space where you can relax after a hard day's sightseeing; the well equipped kitchen, unlike so many holiday lets where the kitchen has one blunt knife and two cups and a toaster that doesn't work too well; the heating which was on throughout our visit in this very cold spring period (especially the underfloor heating in the bathroom); the proximity to Marylebone tube, just minutes down the street; the lack of noise; fast free wifi; the comfortable bed, with an assortment of pillows; the large bathroom with heated towel rails; and finally the terrific owner who was so very responsive to our needs. The washing machine fused while we were here and she arrived to apologise and attend to it and even offered to take our washing home and have it done for us!

We booked this accommodation after much research on the internet as we wanted to be as close to Marylebone Village area as possible and self catering. It turned out to be a great find, and about a 10 min walk to the Marylebone High Street. The best part was the close proximity to the Tube and train only a minute or so walk. The street was very quiet considering it is just off Marylebone Road. It felt like a safe area. We had the top floor apartment which had a nice view and was light and airy. It was very well equipped & very spacious for London. The owner was waiting to greet us on arrival at our expected time. The free phone & wi fi was a bonus. The negatives were minor, but quite annoying. The carpet in the lounge was a bit grubby & in need of a shampoo. There is a glass shelf positioned above the wash basin, and you can't get your mouth in to clean your teeth. There is no toilet roll holder?? The ventilation in the shower room was very poor, and it was terribly stuffy whilst showering & the whole room fooged up. On arrival we found 4 sheets of toilet paper left on the roll, I know it is self catering but one doesn't get off a 2 day flight from Aus with a roll of loo paper in one's luggage?? A bit inconsiderate. A small sache of milk & some soap would have been a welcoming touch. We had to go back out again to the shops at 7pm to buy these items. Overall I enjoyed our week in this apartment. The owners need to address these couple of small issues particularly the shower room & loo paper& the place would be excellent. I would stay here again & recommend this to others.
