Really lovely restaurant nestled just off Kensington High Street.
Upmarket but very easy. Polite and attentive staff.
Really good cuisine and wine.
Seemed to be one of those gems probably frequented by locals although it does have a good reputation further afield too.
Well worth going to.

Visited for Saturday lunch. Very nice setting and decor but nearly everything else from there was average. The set menu looked good until you saw the desserts, beetroot panna cotta or a cheese course - so we went a la carte. Ham hock terrine was ok, as was the eel (but there was next to nothing on the plate). The rabbit special with foie gras had the minutest singular piece of foie gras - barely bigger than my thumbnail - describing that as the second ingredient in a dish and then giving that is just wrong. The two chops from a rack on the lamb main course were also derisory, but the additional of sweetbreads helped. The chocolate pave desserts again were nice but nothing special. We were never asked how our food was until plate clearing the mains although given the lack of food, they would have needed to have got their timing especially sharp to find the right moment.

On arrival at seating, we were also forced to endure a rather long conversation between who I think was the manager and the couple in the corner chatting about mutual acquaintances and wines (costs a lot to import wine from New Zealand - who would have thought!). They happily chatted away for a good ten/fifteen minutes, during which time it would have been good if we could have ordered, but I dare not interrupt. Not a lot of staff on - just the two in the restaurant, one in the bar and one front of house, maybe reflecting that we only saw 7/8 tables populated before we left just before 2pm. The only other couple present when we arrived scarpered just after 1pm. See you next week? - they were asked. I didn't hear the reply but I don't think we will be back, definitely nothing special foodwise and not worth the trek across to Kensington again. Just about gets a three ONLY because I could not fault anything we ate

My niece and nephew who live in London suggested this restaurant as a place with top notch cuisine, innovative, consistent yet not stuffy. All is true. I had the fresh spring asparagus with whipped parmesan polenta and truffle pesto, the smoked eel with mackeral and leek hearts, and the rabbit with foie gras and morels. Unbelievably delicious. The wait staff was attentive yet not intrusive; their suggestions for wine perfect. Low key yet fun evening.
