The rooms are excellent - bathroom has both bath and separate shower. They are immaculately clean, modern, lighting is great. The bed was huge, with a really comfortable mattress. The rooms really can't be faulted.
The location is also great - just a stone's throw from Westminster, London Eye etc.
However, the service is pretty poor. When I arrived to check-in there were four staff working on reception and all were serving someone, but with only one person ahead of me in the queue I thought it wouldn't take long. I was wrong - it took over 20 minutes to check-in, everything was just incredibly slow and I really don't know why.
The worst thing about this hotel though was the breakfast. It's £21.50 EACH - costing more than their three course lunch. For that price I expected something excellent - and it isn't. Firstly you have to queue to get in - and it's not because there are no seats. Despite having four staff at the doorway, only one of them is allowed to check people off the list - at the same time as taking payments for breakfast from people leaving the restaurant, storing luggage, finding luggage etc. The room where the breakfast is served is very dark- probably nice for dinner, but not great for breakfast. Tea and coffee is brought round in big jugs, eventually. The hot breakfast ingredients are of good quality - but there are quite a few things you have to ask for and wait for if you want them. The buffet area is very small, there is a permanent queue for the toaster, no real bread choice, not enough cutlery, the list goes on. I have had far better breakfasts in cheap chain hotels for a third of the price. I would recommend saving your money and going out to a local cafe.
We tried out the bar and the service here was very good, even though it was extremely busy. There are plenty of other hotels nearby that we will try out first before we think of returning here.
