“Fabulous stay!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 February 2014

We spent Christmas and New Years at the Park Plaza this past December. We were there 9 nights and had a fabulous stay. Room was extremely comfortable for 3 of us-- 2 adults in the main room, teen daughter claimed the living area/sofa bed. Having 2 TVs was genius! Kitchen area was well used, we often ate breakfast in the room, and generally made tea and/or coffee every afternoon or late evening. Had plates, cutlery and glasses for 4.
It was clean, very nicely appointed and the bathroom was well lit and large. Really no complaints at all about the space. As others have noted, turning the lights on and off is an adventure, which we NEVER got the hang of! But the little touches more than made up for it-- a lovely little chocolate basket with truffles for New Years, always remembering the third set of towels AND toiletries, a little present for my daughter's birthday and various other little touches that made the stay so lovely.
We did have a few issues with the staff knowing what was going on,for New Year's, for example, but I was persistent and eventually got what I needed. It was an amazing location for the fireworks on New year's and we had a fantastic time.
Location is great too-- midway between Waterloo and Westminster Tube stops, so easy to get everywhere. Several little shops to pick up food for the room. I might like a few more mid-range dining options nearby, but that's just a quibble. All in all, a perfect place for us :)

The hotel is nice and in a good location. Reception was friendly and check in was efficient.

The rooms are spacious, the only disappointment was the lighting - it was very dark and difficult to get ready in.

In terms of the breakfast, this was rather disappointing and the queues for breakfast were very long. Service was slow and tea did not arrive until we were pretty much done with breakfast and that was only after asking a fair few times.

I attended a function at the hotel.

The location of the hotel is excellent and walking distance to tube stations. Waterloo being the nearest.

The bar, restaurant and public areas are modern and clean.

We had a studio room which was a really big room for London, the room also had a microwave so would be excellent with people traveling with kids.

Breakfast was a bit chaotic and the restaurant was packed. Breakfast was okay. Standard hotel breakfast, nothing to write home about.

I felt the reception staff were quite unfriendly. We stood for 5 minutes trying to get their attention before we were allowed to check in.

The lighting in the rooms is quite dark so girls, you're best doing your male up in the bathroom as it had the best light.

Thank you for your review KellyM547, I trust you enjoyed your event.

Glad you enjoyed one of our spacious and well furnished Studio rooms.

I’m sorry to note your experience at Reception, this is highly usual. Our team members are there to assist all guests and would not intentionally keep you waiting if they were not assisting another guest, my apologies if this was the case.

I hope we will have the opportunity to serve your better in the near future.

My husband, daughter and myself stayed for 4 nights and it was our first visit to the Park Plaza Westminster. We chose valet parking and were met on arrival by a Porter, our luggage unloaded and our car was taken to a secure car park. At Reception we were greeted by Javier who offered us an upgrade for an extra £40 per night and our suite on the 13th floor was fantastic. We had a large balcony where we could see both Big Ben and the London Eye. We had a king size bed in one room and a large well equipped en suite bathroom. There was a sofa bed in the lounge as well as a dining table and chairs. There was a hob, microwave, fridge and even a dishwasher in the lounge.

We ate in the Brasserie Joel Restaurant and the quality of the meals was outstanding. We were served by three different waiters but each one gave excellent service. The Restaurant Manager and his staff deserve praise.

There was a large choice of both cold and hot food on the breakfast buffet and very attentive staff. I have to mention one waiter in particular named Adesegun. He was so polite and attentive and it was obvious that he went that extra mile to make sure that we were well catered for.

In fact, the staff at this hotel from the Porters, Concierge, Reception and everyone we dealt with were so customer friendly that we would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a stress free and quality break.

The location was excellent especially as we had booked a concert at the Royal Festival Hall.

As this will be our future hotel for stays in London we have joined Club Carlson so that we can collect points towards our next visit.

Room Tip: Request an upgrade and ask to see the photographs of the rooms available.

We have not been in London for over 7 years but when my husband told me we are going this time, i was glad to be here again. We shop round the internet to see the best place to stay. Many places was competing for our attention. Anyway we chose this hotel based on many reviews we read.

The hotel is in a great location, close to Westminster and Houses of Parliament. Surrounded by many underground stations for easy commute round the city. It was a bit of queue to check in when we arrived. The rooms were lovely but was too dark. We spent five nights at this hotel. We had breakfast included in our bookings. The food was fantastic, great options on offer. The only negative was that we asked for coffee and it took them ages to bring it. I guess the young lady forgot. On the second day, we also had breakfast and this time around it was a different experience as we did not have to wait before been served coffee.

A young man approached us and offer to serve coffee or tea, i couldn't hide my feelings but has to say it that what a day is today that the coffee was here on time, we told him what happened the other day. He apologised to us.That was where our great experience begins, we wish we could have met him earlier. He kept coming to us to making sure we were okay, gave us juice, also offered us special orders which we never knew does exist. We had eggs benedict, and royal and waffles. My husband loves smoked salmon and was thrilled to have been offered him.

On the third day, we have to ask for him at the desk when we arrived for breakfast. We came to enjoy our holiday so we don't want anything short of that. His service quality was excellent, faultless, prompt delivery and immaculate. Above all he has a sparkling and genuine smile on every time, he has got passion for what he does. He lightens up the whole atmosphere. He should be the face of this hotel. I mentioned this to one of the manager, who advised us to leave our comment on trip advisor and we could not hesitate to do so. He also provide help with how to get around by explaining the maps to us, giving directions. We always wanted him around each time we come to the restaurant. My husband and him had few time to chat about football, he is an arsenal fan and my husband is a Man Utd fan.

The staff are nice, polite and helpful but Adesegun is exceptional with excellent customer oriented service. We definitely recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to have nice time and value for money

Room Tip: If you love brightness, ask for a well lit room from booking

I attended an event at this hotel and decided to stay over night. The hotel is in a great location, serviced well by all forms of transport with tube and train stations just a short walk away. It is very modern and contemporary inside. Room of a good standard, clean, spacious and well equipped. My only criticism is being told that I would have some sort of view from the room but this couldn't be further from the truth. Basically, do not stay in a Superior Double if you want a view of anything other than rows and columns of other rooms.

Dear rpcw,

Thank you for your review, I trust you enjoyed your event and the short commute "home" that evening!

Glad you enjoyed our accommodation, but sorry to hear of the misunderstanding as our Superior rooms certainly do not have views as they are not external facing rooms.

I hope we can welcome you again in the near future.

Stayed with my two sons for a weekend. Paid an extra £40 per night for a Big Ben view in a studio. Well worth it. The room was ideal for a family. Double bed settee in one part of the room this was separated from the other part by the bathroom area. there was a double bed in the next area with floor to ceiling windows. The bathroom had a bath and separate shower cubicle. Plenty of towels and toiletries. Bath robes and slippers. A mini bar - payable. a sink and tea and coffee etc.The pillows were like rocks and we asked for some softer ones but the replacements were just as hard. also lighting in the room hard to get to grips with. seemed to have a mind of its own.
The hotel is a few minutes walk from Waterloo.Warm welcome on entering the hotel and an offer to help with baggage.Up the escalators to reception and check in took a few minutes. Tricky to find the room as it is a bit like a maze. Had a cocktail in the bar at night which was nice and a Michael Buble tribute was good. Breakfast excellent. 1st morning we were lead downstairs to an overflow room. next day waited for space in the main restaurant. Would recommend the hotel for a real treat. also had a swim on saturday evening. if you want an appt in the spa book in advance.

Dear cathLanc,

Thank you for your review, sounds like you and your boys had a great time with us, we’re delighted you enjoyed our hotel and facilities.

Our location is hard to beat and that view from some our front facing bedrooms is never tiresome!

I’m pleased you enjoyed the entertainment in Primo Bar and a quick dip in the pool. You’re spot on re. treatments for Mandara Spa, we do certainly recommend guests book in advance as soon as they have an idea of their plans whilst with us.

I do hope we can welcome you all again in the near future.
