Stayed here this weekend, really good hotel. Fabulous rooms we had iconic view which is worth the extra money. The only thing is at breakfast the service is not very good I waited 20 minutes for eggs but the rest of the breakfast was fine.

Room Tip: Upgrade to iconic studio

Stayed here one night recently. Excellent location, just the south side of Westminster Bridge. We were able to walk to the theatre that night very easily. We were in a one bed suite with the most amazing view of Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament. I sat and watched the river traffic and that view for ages. Suite was lovely. Separate bedroom and living area with dining table and small kitchen. Had everything you could want - fridge, microwave, Nespresso machine, kettle etc. Quite clean, some attention to detail missing, eg build up of dust on the wardrobe runners, bathroom door needed cleaning. It is a big hotel and reception always feels busy. In fact, when I arrived there was a long long queue to check in, but staff brought people in the queue fruit juice and then other staff appeared from somewhere, I was whisked off to a different area and checked in there. Every member of staff encountered were friendly and helpful. The only area where this hotel was rather lacking was the breakfast. On arrival there was no-one to greet us so we joined a queue only to discover that this was the queue for paying when you'd finished breakfast so we had to find someone to seat us. The food was ok, nothing special, no toaster, no choice of eggs, just what was on the buffet. It was also difficult getting the waiters' attention for tea and coffee, they seemed to drift around one area and ignore other areas. Apart from this, it was a good stay in a good hotel and I would return here without hesitation. Just for that view.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament, it is amazing.

Thank you cruella55 for your review, I am pleased you enjoyed our great location and our hospitable and friendly staff.

I’m sorry about your breakfast experience and for the lack of a host, this is not the norm. Also, I’m sorry you were not made of aware the toaster was and other dishes, I have shared your comments with our Breakfast Manager for our review.

Thank you for your recommendation and we look forward to welcoming you back to enjoy an improved stay.

Fantastic hotel, excellent location. Near all links to many other London attractions, walking distance to southbank, good links to london theatre. Walking distance to Jubilee line tube station ( Waterloo and Westminster) Views were out of this world. Our room looked over the London eye. By the lift, Houses of Parliament. Not forgetting the amazing Big Ben. Staff were first class. Spa was of a very high standard, pool was a great size, sauna and steam room. Only downside, with so many rooms. Noise was a slight problem in the evening. Room was equipped with a microwave, all the usual tea making facilities.
Would highly recommend and will definitely be staying again.
Thank you for a very enjoyable stay. Made a very special occasion a very memorable weekend.

We stayed in a studio room with our 2 children aged 4&6 for 2 nights. The hotel is in an excellent location, right over the bridge from the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben, and 2 mins walk from the London Eye.

The staff are absolutely fantastic. So attentive and friendly, and very courteous. Checking in was seamless and checking out second to none with the express checkout.

Our room was lovely - we had a sofa bed with TV and a king size bed with another TV in the next section. The bathroom was extremely sufficient, having a bath as well as a separate shower. Also in the studio room was a sink, fridge and microwave.

Food at the hotel is lovely and not too expensive. Breakfast had everything you could want to keep you full until a very late lunch!

We stayed in Park Plaza Westminster Bridge (PP) from the 21st Apr to 6th May. PP was a great hotel with good facilities and services provided by some staff, for example, those that handled our luggage and wait on us for breakfast. These were some of the things that were commendable about PP.

However, it was a sequence of unfortunate events that made us realized how commercialized, rigid and “cold” PP can be when handling situations and requests. We would recommend other budget hotels that provide more “warmth” than PP. Bottom line is if you do not wish to (1) experience hidden charges that follows during your stay, (2) getting lock out for a night because of miscommunications, (3) losing items due to negligence and management that do not seem to care or have no empowerment to assist you, do not stay in PP. Following are the details to support our statement if you like to read on. I hope you will read it slow and understand our point of view.

(1) PP has this breakfast system that separates “Full English” (the better one) and “Continental” Breakfast types. Funny thing is staffs are not even aware of such system in place, allowing anyone to enjoy “Full English”. If you booked through the hotel, “Full English” is by default. But for those who booked through third parties, be careful that they might be giving you “Continental” without telling you, and this happened to us. Once PP found out that we were under “Continental”, they try to charge us for every breakfast day when we are not even aware of the mistake in booking. Although we did not explore all the facilities PP has as stated in their website, some of these were chargeable if you would like to use them. These chargeable costs only came to our knowledge when we wanted to use those facilities and PP did not state them in their website. Personally, these hidden costs have made us felt cheated of what we have paid for the room, as if the price stated was just for the room and all other facilities are chargeable if you want to use. This was not the experience we like being a tourist.

(2) This experience of charging additional charge did not stop there. They have this system where PP will put certain amount of cash on hold during your stay in case you want to use their beverages provided or making phone calls. PP will lock anyone out of their own rooms if these costs are not paid on that day itself. We were locked out due to a miscommunication of the receptionist who told us that we have not paid our outstanding amount when we thought we had credit inputs on their side. The receptionist told us that they put £50 on credit, but they end up taking £250 on credit without us knowing.

(3) The last straw that broke the camel’s back was the losing of a sentimental item. This was a negligence of a chambermaid. Mistakes do happen, but when it happened, we see how inefficient and ineffective PP was in its operation to resolve problems that customers face. There was no urgency coming from the staff to the management and it took 3 days for them to finally start what could have been done on day 1. There were no updates from any of the staffs and every time we call to check the status of the missing item, we have to repeat our story to a new person. From this experience, we can see that the internal communications within departments, management and staffs are extremely poor and slow. Unless PP improves, assistance provided during a crisis will be very poor.

To conclude, if you like to relax and enjoy your stay, PP is definitely not a hotel for you to relax your mind and feel free. We experience stress everyday dealing with calls that inform us about additional charges and situations that are ineffectively handled. As if we are going back to work during the holiday, fighting problems and receiving phone calls talking about money. If you will be out the whole day and only resting at night, save your money on other warm, less-commercialized, rigid hotels and shopping.

Room Tip: Other hotels can be just as good.

Dear Tanazh91,

I am sorry to read of your disappointing stay with us and I am of course pleased to read that there were aspects of your stay that was pleasing to you.

Please allow me to respond as follows:

1) Following any booking, whether directly via the hotel or a third party agent, your confirmation will clearly state the room type, number of persons and any inclusive items, such as Continental Breakfast or English breakfast, we recommend all guests check their confirmation.

My apologies for any inconsistency you experienced and I can understand your frustration, I am sorry for our oversight, however, I am pleased to note that we resolved this as you accepted our offer of a complimentary full English breakfast upgrade for the remaining five days of your stay.

2) The pre-authorisation for extras or use of the mini bar is standard practice in many hotels worldwide for the relevant number of nights upon check in, in your case fice. However, should you wish not to place a credit on your room account, when placing an order in the any of the outlets, including Room Service within the hotel or using Mandara Spa you will be required to pay cash. I am sorry this was not made clear to you upon check in but is indeed standard practice.

Following your correspondence with our PA, I confirm your bank has duly been re-sent the appropriate request to release any held funds.

3) As per your tele-con and correspondence with our PA, I would like to re-confirm and assure you that absolutely every effort has been made to locate the bolster in the linen, from the moment you informed us on Monday 28 April by us thoroughly searching our onsite laundry facilities and contacting our external laundry supplier to conduct the same diligent search of the van and trolleys that visited our hotel during the entire weekend leading up to the reporting of the loss on Monday 28 April and the days following the report just in case it was missed and hopefully to locate the bolster.

These were indeed unfortunate issues that occurred especially the latter regarding your lost property.

However, we have no record of any extra charges, just your desire to consume English breakfast and not the pre paid Continental one.

My apologies once more, and as stated in our last correspondence, we understand that it is impossible to replace the sentimental value of the item and our offer for a product replacement only as a gesture of goodwill remains available to you.

Regards,
Hasham Soliman

We stayed 3 nights in total at this Plaza and loved each one! The rooms were excellent. The restaurants were excellent. The staff were very helpful. It was our first such holiday abroad and the Plaza @ Westminster Bridge was a marvelous beginning point. When you step out the door you face Big Ben and the Westminster Bridge. We slowly strolled across the bridge and along the Thames on our first evening -- such a pleasurable introduction to London!
