My mum and I stayed here in July 2013 and we could not speak higher of this hotel.
The staff were lovely, very attentive and would bend over backwards to meet our needs. The rooms were spacious and very clean. The concierge were extremely helpful, the location is great with 2 very close metro stations and ample bus options, the view from the lounge is just beautiful- Million dollar views of Big Ben in fact, the restaurants were diverse with delicious food on offer at reasonable prices and there was alway a great buzz about the hotel.
Highly recommended, we will be staying here again!

So this is how the other side lives?

If it wasn't for my friend's travel points, we wouldn't be able to afford to stay at a place like this. I must say, it's definitely one of the nicest, fanciest hotel I've stayed in my life. It's considerably expensive, but the service and amenities is unparalleled. The room and bathroom are spacious. The bed is comfortable. And did I mention the view? Holy crap, the view is amazing! I can't imagine anything better than waking up every morning looking at Big Ben. The location is pretty great too - walking distance to The Tube a lot of landmarks (Big Ben/Parliament, Westminster Bridge, The London Eye and Westminster Abbey to name a few).

We stayed here a couple years ago and although there are many other great hotels in London, for a family, this hotel's rooms offer a lot of space and we wanted the reassurance of knowing what we were getting.

We had a very late arrival into London but check-in went smoothly. I had some trouble understanding the reception staff. I had booked a studio room--it is what we had before and is similar to an Embassy Suites room in the US), but was told we had a suite. Only later at check-out, I learned that we were paying 69 GBP extra per night for it. I now recall agreeing to what Park Plaza calls their upsell E-Standby program when I booked months ago, but the hotel front desk staff should definitely remind customers on check-in that the upgrade is a paid upgrade!

With that said, despite the astronomical cost, the suite is huge and worked out very well for us. It had a lot of space, massive balcony area, great views south over Waterloo, and some nice touches like a fully-equipped kitchenette with dining table, dishware/utensils, dishwasher, microwave, refrigerator and Nespresso machine with pods.

The only significant drawback is, considering the expense, it still only had one bathroom AND the kids have to go through our bedroom to get to it. So despite the considerable expense and space, this suite layout was not particularly ideal for privacy or bathroom efficiency.

A few other minor problems included: (1) a balcony exterior door that got easily jammed (and maintenance never could fix it), (2) a bedroom TV with the incorrect aspect ratio so everything on-screen was cut-off, (3) universal charging station with connectors that either did not work or worked poorly (so bring your own adapters!).

And finally, despite the fact we were paying double what we paid last visit, we didn't get breakfast included this time around as the hotel makes you pay for it separately now.

A few positives: (1) despite its proximity to busy Waterloo station, the rooms are very quiet due to double insulation on all windows and doors, and (2) the hotel's location is very good especially if you want to enjoy the South Bank area that includes the London Eye, City Hall, etc. Access to transport is good--go either to neighboring Waterloo for Bakerloo, Jubilee or Circle lines, or walk across the Westminster Bridge to Westminster station for the District or Circle lines. Also plenty of taxis always waiting outside the hotel.

Overall a nice, but expensive, visit to our favorite London hotel!

Room Tip: All rooms are quiet but you will have to either pay or beg for a room with a view of Parliament

Thank you for your detailed review terpnut and for returning to us for your second stay.

Sorry the Reception team was not clear on check-in, this is normally highlighted once again upon signing of the registration card.

For your next booking our 2 bedroom suite may be more suitable, with 1 master bedroom and a twin-bedded room, both with en-suite facilities.

I’m sorry to note you had some minor issues and trust the other items were able to be remedied during your stay but please do let me know our room number so we may permanently repair the balcony door, thank you.

Thank you for your recommendation and I hope we can welcome you back again.

This hotel is hard edge modern in style. Not impressed by ever changing lighting in large areas of reception and elevators. Hallways to rooms very dimly lit. That being said the room was spacious and clean and bed comfortable. Line up for buffet breakfast, very expensive and food only just passable. Location good.

Green Features: Not sure if dim lighting in hallways designed to save on lighting cost but found this practice to be depressing

Wasnt overly impressed. I have stayed in nicer hotels for the same amount of money. Few issues with the room such as the smell and the hotel staff didn't really try to accommodate us. Great location though, very big hotel.

Room Tip: Im sure a upgraded room will be nice.

I’m sorry to note you didn’t enjoy you stay with us slipp23 and that you were unhappy with your room.

Without knowing your booking details and stay date I am unable to comment freely, however, we are currently operating at full occupancy levels therefore we may have been unable to move you/upgrade you and I trust we remedied the unfortunate odour in your room, my apologies.

I hope we’ll be able to redeem ourselves in the near future.

Since we were backpacking through Europe and my friends dad bought this hotel for our trip, we looked like rift rafts coming in. Thankfully they didn't treat us any differently. It is in the perfect location, in the heart of london. It's quiet and the staff is friendly. The rooms are nice and the spa was amazing. There is nothing really bad to say about this hotel, it was a great place to stay in!

This is the second time we have stayed in this Hotel and another great night! Easy to get to from Euston and just across the Westminster Bridge facing Big Ben.
We booked via Amoma.com and trip advisor as they had the best rate and everything went smoothly with the booking.
We were on the second floor in a superior room which was very contemporary. Our view was of a garden in the executive lounge!
As this was a Friday the hotel was very busy at breakfast but they had opened another area adjacent to the main breakfast area with its own buffet which was fine.
Will definitely use this hotel next time I am down in London.
