Description: Renowned throughout London and beyond, Petrus is one of the biggest names on the restaurant scene. With the world-renowned Gordon Ramsay behind the scheme to raise Petrus - now located on Knightsbridge's Kinnerton Street - from the ashes, the restaurant exudes the famous Ramsay sense of luxury combined with down-to-earth charm. Decorated in subtle tones of champagne, oyster and copper along with the claret red which inspired the restaurant's name, Petrus's beguiling interior is superbly decadent and romantic and actually quite intimate. In the kitchen, Head Chef Larry Jayasekara is creating its trademark modern French menu. At Petrus the highest-quality ingredients go into dishes that combine delicious familiar flavours with unique presentation. Expect waves of divine amuse-bouches and a stupendous wine list, including a long list of vintages of Petrus to make it all perfect.

The food there is excellent and well presented. More importantly this is Ramsay food at affordable prices. The only small criticism is that many of the dished are of the standard ramsay style ie mash spread on the plate with meat sitting on top. Very nice if you are new to haute cuisine. Lacks a little inventiveness if you are used to that type of stuff.

I would still thoroughly recommend it for anyone who wants to eat well at a good price.

By reading reviews - our expectations were set so high that even a little thing going wrong could spoil all the fun. But no - there were not even a little thing which wasn't perfect. There's some "fancy, but for human beings" atmosphere, where you can get top-class food and service, while still being yourself and not pretending to be a member of the royal family. The service is absolutely fantastic, while still being somewhat fun.

The food is of course exceptionally good. We went for the a la carte menu. Foie gras is by far the best I ever had. The beef filet was so good that I couldn't stop myself from ordering another portion.

The service is fantastic. Any crazy request or question which you might think of - they know how to deal with it.

P.S.: as a note to whoever decides on these things there, but it could be nice to have an ashtray+chair corner somewhere outside. I understand that Ramsay is a healthy life fanatic, but it's really a nice thing to have a cigarette after an exceptional meal.

I'll be brief and let the restaurant speak for itself. The service is attentive, friendly and fast without being obtrusive. The food is simply the best I have ever eaten (with added surprises throughout), and the atmosphere is cool, relaxed and buzzing.

Spent £400 on food and wine for 2 (three courses, half a bottle of wine each).

The best restaurant in the world, why it doesn't have three michelin stars is beyond me.
