Description: Set in bustling Knightsbridge, the award-winning Bar Boulud, London is a French-inspired bistro and wine bar at Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park, under the direction of renowned Lyon-born chef Daniel Boulud, following the successful format of Bar Boulud New York. The full à la carte bistro menu, served Monday through Saturday and Sunday evenings, is based on seasonal, rustic French cooking, and includes an array of charcuterie, house-made terrines, pâtés, hams, saucissons, boudins and more, specially prepared onsite. Also featured are Boulud's popular American transplants, the "Yankee" and "Piggie" burgers, as well as signature "BB" Burger unique to London. A £17 two or £19 three course 'Bouchon Menu', changing weekly, is available until 7pm, inclusive of a glass of house wine, as an excellent option for pre-theatre dining. New to 2015, Bar Boulud now serves Sunday brunch from 11am to 3.30pm at £39, with Children's Menu options also available. Bar Boulud features an impressive selection of wines available by the glass and by the bottle with a focus on the Rhône and Burgundy regions, as well as a wide selection of draught and bottled beers from noteworthy English and Continental breweries. Serving great wine by the glass from rare, large-format bottles is a Bar Boulud trademark.

We enjoyed a simply delicious evening, the greeting from the hostess was excellent - all the waiting on staff were superb and the meal was delicious. Every single thing was perfect! We had noticed a 'famous face' opposite us and had noticed the service she had received and our service was just as attentive. In a rush to catch the last train when we were served still warm madelaines and yummy macacrons the waiter packed them for us to eat on the train! The choice of wine by the glass was the most extensive I have seen and we enjoyed a different wine with each course.
Could not fault a single thing - our expectations were more than fulfilled.

Hands down, the dinner we had at Bar Boulud was one of our best in London!! I started off with a most delicious and creative cocktail at the bar, which was a Champagne Mojito. Loved watching it being created right in front of me. We were then seated at our table and decided to start with the steak tartare. Presentation was gorgeous and the taste and seasoning was splendid. It was perfect. My husband and I both opted for the much raved about burgers and that did not disappoint one bit. I'd say it was one of the best burgers I've had to-date. My husband had the Yankee, while I went all out on ordering the BB (served with Fois Gras, Red Wine Braised Short Ribs, Truffle, Frisee, Horseradish Mayo, Confit Tomato, atop a Black Onion Seed Bun). Well worth the 20 pounds cost as this was out of this world luxe burger! It was so juicy and oozing with flavour!! We left room for one dessert and opted for the Souffle Sauvage. What a great choice that was, it was a Lemon Verbena souffle, Blackberry Gelee and served with Blackbery Yogurt Ice Cream. Daniel Boulud has done splendid with this place and would love to come back.

We ate here on a Saturday evening on a visit to london to see my daughter and her boyfriend. Bar Boulod was a good choice as the food is excellent and presentation and service are both very good. A full three course dinner with wine (ignoring the burgers which were relatively cheap) is certainly expensive (especially to those of us who do not live in London) but it is top quality food and portions surprisingly generous. Starters were excellent Aioli Seafood Classique, Seared Prawns which were fantastic, and Tunisiienne Lamb Merguez Sausage which was very good. Mains were beautifully cooked Coq au Vin (good value at £23), Rib Eye which my daugher raved about (and at £32 excluding a side dish I should hope so!) and smoked lamb which was really very good. We had extra side dishes - truffle mash, fries, potatoes lyonnaise, green beans and spinach and all were good although we probably ordered too much and at £4-£5 each it is easy to rack up additional costs. Puddings were excellent - Chocotier (gorgeous with an extra scoop of vanilla ice-cream) and Croc Blond. Bar Boulod has an amazing wine list stretching to 28 pages and ranging from £22.50 to £18000! At the lower end of the range we enjoyed St Veran white burgundy (£38) and a Cotes du Rhone Village (£42) both of which were very good and not ridiculously priced and "House" bottled sparkling water at £4 was very reasonable. Service was excellent and our waiter was informative, helpful and efficient without being overly fussy. The whole atmosphere was good and much less pretentious than I had feared, given its location within the Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park. We had a really enjoyable dining experience and could definitely recomend Bar Boulod, especially if you wanted somewhere for a special occasion that serves excellent, albiet expensive, food, while still retaining a relaxed atmosphere.
