Booked this for 4 nights being a Platinum member with Marriott for the beginning of our honeymoon. They were very kind and had a special piece of cake in our room for us. We got the wrong room number to start, but there was a very obnoxious customer that kept leaning over. The front desk person handled them well and firmly asking them to go to the next desk; however, they were evidently flustered and gave us the wrong room number so back down to the front desk and they quickly remedied the situation. The two issues I really had were the service in the booking lounge/restaurant. Every time we went there for breakfast or drinks service was slow. One night we just wanted to sit and have a martini, after waiting about 7 minutes (yes I timed it) I went up and asked the bartender. Rather than apologizing and taking our order I was told they had table service and he would send someone over. They arrived, took the order, delivered the drinks and forgot we were there. I asked for the bill, did not leave a tip and left. The other issue which really caused us to give a average rating was the room. As most hotels not enough outlets near the bed, but the big issue was the smell. It took us until the 3rd night to figure out it was coming from the ventilation system. It smelled of stale smoke. Yes I should have told them right away, but we did not want to pack up and move. This is a category 9 hotel, and for that reason I give them average. The bed was comfortable, the service in the Chambers room was awesome. For the money the rooms cost, this was not a good value.

Thank you for taking the time to provide this feedback. I am always delighted to welcome our loyal Marriott members to the hotel and thrilled to hear you chose our property to mark the beginning of your honeymoon. Great to hear you appreciated the cake the team arranged for you and were so impressed by the service you received in Chambers. I am of course very disappointed to read your comments regarding your experience in the Booking Office and issues with the ventilation system. I would be keen to hear more about your experience and would ask that you contact our Director of Operations on Edward .White@renaissancehotels.com so we can investigate further. Thanks again for your feedback and I do hope to hear from you soon.

My family and i stayed for a night at this beautifully restored hotel in a victorian building. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience and staff were wonderful. We had a comfortable triple room. Breakfast in the old booking office which is now a restaurant was simply fantastic. There were great shops at the door step.

We booked our 3 night stay via booking.com and were pleased with check in. Our room was beautiful, overlooking the events area downstairs which was not a problem until the wedding party had a live band on our 2nd night. Our 1st nights sleep was restful and comfortable so we were looking forward to another quiet night in 5 star luxury. The beat of the bass made me feel like I was back at home with my teenage son playing music in his room! We rang reception and were told it was going to stop at midnight . At 12-20 I rang and the music was stopped soon after. The manager(marten) was efficient and did deduct 20% off that nights room rate. The following morning breakfast was chaotic as a section had been reserved for wedding guests! Very chaotic and noisy with guests milling! If you book this hotel ensure you request a quiet room. Why don't hotels put wedding guests in the rooms that can hear the party noise? The spa pool although very small was beautiful and the water temperature just right! A lovely stay apart from the wedding causing noise and breakfast chaos!

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet room

Thank you for taking the time to provide this feedback. I am delighted to hear you thought your room was so beautiful and enjoyed a very comfortable first night. Great to hear you were able to make the most of the Spa and enjoyed a dip in the pool too! I am of course, very disappointed to hear your comments regarding your second evening. We do our very best to only allocate rooms such as the one you stayed in to guests attending the event. I would very much appreciate the opportunity to look into your experience so should you wish to discuss further, please contact our Front Office Manager on Christian.Masters@renaissancehotels.com so we can investigate. Thanks again for your comments and I do hope to hear from you soon.

One of the most amazing building in London but not sure they have done the bedrooms justice - very ordinary both decor, facilities and size nothing special. Staff and general areas like bar & restaurant just stunning but at £30.00 for one cocktail & one whisky - wow!! Rooms are pricey too and if you're just on a quick sightseeing visit then for me it's overpriced.
Best bit was the 'organised guided tour' by a professional guide - just facinating.
So no - would not stay again - luxury was on the surface.

Room Tip: All rooms appear to be very quiet - ours was basic - there may be better options

Thank you for your feedback. I am pleased to hear you enjoyed your recent stay with us and were especially impressed by the restoration of the building and the public spaces. I am sorry to hear your thoughts on the prices of drinks. We are proud to offer a unique drinks menu and events concept in one of London’s most sophisticated late night venues and are confident our prices that are very competitive within the market. Great to hear you enjoyed the historical tour, which as you say really brings the history of the building to life. Thanks again for taking the time to feedback and I do hope to welcome you back in the near future.

Stayed prior to our trip on Eurostar. We did not have breakfast or dinner there however check in was easy and friendly. The room was a nice size with a vvvvvvvv comfortable bed and in the morning so easy to get to Eurostar!!!!
We did try a few drinks in the bar after a night at the theatre and was lovely. Great variety of drinks and not too highly priced. Service good and a nice chilled out atmosphere.
Overall a well restored hotel with a great sense of history and atmosphere with a hi level of service.

Thank you for these kind comments. I am delighted to hear you enjoyed your recent stay with us and were especially impressed by the convenience of the location. As you say, the hotel could not be better placed for those travelling on to Continental Europe via Eurostar. Great to learn you were able to enjoy some drinks in the Booking Office during your stay. We have actually just launched a new drinks menu based on the theatre of mixology, so I do hope you got to try some of our specials, such as the Preservation Martini or Vaccine Number 5? Thanks again for taking the time to feedback and I do hope to welcome you back in the near future.

Clean, comfortable rooms, excellent air conditioning. Friendly and extremely helpful staff, espcially for last minute theater tickets. Lovely full English breakfast.
Building is a Victorian Rail hotel lovingly restored. The former Book Office is now a restuarant. Adjoins St. Pancras Rail Station and Kings Cross Rail and Tube

Thank you for these kind comments. I am delighted to hear you enjoyed your recent stay with us and were especially impressed by the level of service provided by the team. Great to hear, the Concierge were able to track down the theatre tickets for you. As a Renaissance Hotel, we refer to our Concierge as Navigators, as they help our guests embrace our motto “Live Life to Discover”. They are a talented bunch, with fantastic knowledge of the area and great contacts and connections across the city to ensure our guests get to experience all that London has to offer. Thanks again for taking the time to feedback and I do hope to welcome you again in the near future.
