This is a great way to travel around London. We would suggest buying an Oyster Card the balance and cost of the card is fully refundable whenever you wish. We have found over many years that the people attending the London Underground are always polite and very helpful - they are a treasure. If you are a tourist we would recommend travelling outside the busy periods as the underground can get quite congested. It is so very easy to navigate and if you get confused, there is always a helpful attendant to sort you out.

the underground is what you would expect, crowded, busy, chaotic and frustrating. is it a good way to get around the city?, it's convenient i suppose if you have an oyster card, if you want to buy your tickets however using cash be prepared to carry a lot of change as the machines do not take notes.i would also add if travelling as a pair, as i did with a friend it was actually quite often cheaper if a little longer to take a cab.

So much easier to navigate than NY subway. Well-kept & people are willing to help. Not bad prices either to hop around the city.

Not sure if i would call the underground an attraction (although as a feat of engineering it is stunning) but as an underground system it is probably the most efficient i have ever used.

The network is very extensive and the trains run very regularly.

One thing I would complain about slightly was how difficult it was in the run up to our trip for me to find advice on the most cost effective way to pay for this.

I finally found out by asking friends on facebook that using my debit card to tap in and tap out is the easiest and best value way of doing this, definitely better than an oyster card. My advise to the underground would be to make this info easier to understand and more readily available.

Aside from that gripe though i loved the underground, it got us around fast and easily ad i would recommend everyone use this system.

Wow, what an amazing way to get around, we loved it, the hustle bustle of hundreds of travelers, just go with the flow, it really made the holiday, just the experience of it, we would highly recommend
using them, the staff are so helpful when buying your tickets from the machine and we will definitely be using them again on our next visit.
