The British Museum is one of the best museum I've visited. If you are into Egyptian history, the British museum has one of the biggest collection of mummies outside of Egypt. They also have a huge collection of ancient Persian, Greek and Roman artifacts. The entrance fee is FOC for locals and tourists. Avoid school vacations as there will be lots of students around. Be prepared to spend a whole day there and take your time to explore the museum. The good thing is there is a nice cafe in the museum for lunch or tea breaks to rest your feet.

There are so many famous artifacts here that school children read about in their history books. The Rosetta stone (no, that is not just a language program), Cleopatra's mummy, Sphynx carvings, coins from 2,000 years ago, Amazon rain forest critters collected in the 19th century...it goes on and on.

I recommend losing the electronic leashes and getting lost in this beautiful indoor bazaar of antiquity.

This is a great museum of history! You need a whole day to get through it! The Egyptian collection was the best for me!

Loved it!
Some fascinating exhibitions with so much to look at. Some parts very busy, but visted on a bank holiday so was expected.
Free admission but left a donation.

Will certainly visit again as there is so much we didn't see!!

PRO TIP: Avoid going during school hours. Once the kiddos wrap up their field trips, you can whiz through the museum and see all the amazing things it has to offer.

EXPERIENCE: I love free museums. Sort of. As a college student studying abroad, I visited every single free museum in London and appreciated them very much. Though, paying for the special exhibit at the British museum is always worth it. They have world-class exhibitions pass through their doors and the high quality displays are always stunning for every age.

This particular museum is fun because there are artifacts from all over the world. It is a nice place for a rainy day on a budget.
