Certainly one of the world's great museums, and free!

The exhibits and exhibitions are brilliantly curated and the wealth and range of historical and pre-historical artefacts are phenomenal.

A wealth of information on display and you would need more than one visit to see it all in any detail. There are often additional short term exhibits, such as the Terracotta Warriors, on display, although these may have an entrance fee.

Free to enter and contains some of the best artifacks in the world. A week is not enough time to fully appreciate this place and I regularly visit as I live in London. Does get a bit busy at times but persevere and you will find a place that will satisfy you. It really would be better if the museum levied a small charge which would help with costs and would make your visit less intensive.

Special exhibitions are always worthwhile and the variety of artefacts in general are great. You could spend days there.

We visited on a Sunday morning in August and by lunch time the place was very busy. They have a dedicated family desk in school holidays, this had five or six different routes with guides that kids could take and we did the Egyptian one. This got us to a different part of the museum and had interesting activities in each room.

We had a drink while we were there, price of the coffee was reasonable, but £2.75 for a glass of orange juice for the kids was slightly extortionate.
