I would be remiss if I did not recommend this world class museum. Among it's notable works you will find no less than the Rosetta stone, which in and of itself commands a huge audience, the egyptian and parthenon collections are phenomenal, a must!

I had not enjoyed such a wide and varied collection for some time. Essential and obliging visit.Egyptian art gallery is very ... very good.
They politely ask for a Five pound donation through a drop box NO PRESSURE you can start with the Rosetta Stone. The explanation of it's history is simple yet comprehensive. This repeats itself through five floors. There is ample handicap access with free wheel chairs and collapsible seats. Several food stations. Too much for a one day visit, you might want to do it for two hours Ned then revisit. A great museum
Didn't get to see all of it the first trip so am going back again..and again. Plan on lots of walking and lots of time. Try to get tickets for the special exhibits online before you travel. We didn't and there were no tickets available the day we went.
I am not the biggest fan of museums but this one transported me into a magical Egyptian and Greek experience. I have visited many free musuems since but none have wowed me close to this one, except the entrance to the natural history museum.
You'd be mad not to visit this wonderful place infact the British Museum has one of the largest and best collection, Italian onces
