THE LANGHAM....Where Do I Start?....SPOT ON !!!!
This was our first stay at one of the Langhams and after doing our research we were very much looking forward to our stay. We spent 5 nights at the hotel and quite frankly it was one of most amazing hotel experiences I have had. After spending a lot of time with the Four seasons and numerous Jumeirah hotels incl the Burj, I can honestly say I enjoyed my stay at the Langham London more than any of them.
We come to London when visiting family and this time we really wanted a hotel with English character , well you can't go any further then this place. It has been renovated over the years to a modern standard but ties in beautiful with the surroundings and decor (we went to the Ritz for dinner and although it like the Langham is old it actually felt a bit dated in some parts).
Our check in was as smooth as can be and after traveling a whole day the man on reception (his name was Dovi or similar) could see this and began to warm us up and make us feel welcome,even talking about the recent world cup.
Our room was on the 9th floor, it was very tastefully decorated and the bathroom fixtures etc good quality. The room was a bit on the small side to what we are used to but it didn't worry us too much.The view was nothing to rave about (after coming straight from Monte Carlo, but this is London and roof tops are the norm.... )The bed was huge and the pillows lovely we had some of the best nights sleep in the whole 4 week trip.
GYM- the gym I found to be a good size, however depending on what you want to do there is only one bench and one smith machine /rack- they do make the most out of the space and the machines etc.. Are techno gym and in very good condition. The water machine is free however bottled water you have to pay for (I found this a bit strange being a guest as all the top hotels I have stayed at provide complimentary water and in the rooms as well. But had a couple workouts and enjoyed it.
SPA -for once we didn't book a treatment due to time but used the leisure facilities almost every morning, the pool was good, a little cold but it encourages you to move...lol.
The jacuzzi and salt sauna were excellent and we really enjoyed it.Again it was strange how no fridge or water machine inside, you had to go into the separate gym for water.
FOOD- we had breakfast daily and the food was good, the service was EXCELLENT and I would like to say Martin was a great waiter who looked after us most mornings, remembering all our groups coffees and went out of his way to serve us. The only down side was for the size of the hotel the Buffet style isn't very big and the selection quite limited. I actually have an old friend who is working in Rouxs but unfortunately we didn't have time to eat there for Breakfast or Dinner - although the prices looked very reasonable and a good menu.
ARTESIAN BAR - we had a few cocktails here on a couple occasions and they were some of the best cocktails I have had. They were extremely inventive and original, see pics attached. Price wise it is not cheap but its nice to have a treat and experience this amazing place. A big thanks to SIMON behind the bar for making up some great drinks ( about 2am for us) and UMBERTO who was an absolute legend, the levels of service from this team is brilliant and we really enjoyed talking to them.
SERVICE - The service from the very first time we arrived in our car till we left yesterday was amazing, every single member of staff made an effort to say hello and acknowledge us, from the maids doing our rooms to the porters going up and down in the lifts. Very well trained and how it should be ( as opposed to my Radisson Blu review today).
LOCATION- great spot for all your shopping, and bars pubs etc are all in a short walking distance, we walked to a theatre show in approx 20mins.
Without doubt the Langham London has been our best hotel experience to date in England. WE WILL BE BACK NEXT YEAR.
KEEP IT UP GUYS!!!!
RECOMMEND = 5 STARS
