This hotel is beautiful and well located for seeing London. The decor is a bit tired in some areas but the rooms are a good size and comfortable. Bathrooms were gorgeous, didn't mind waiting a few minutes for the hot water. Breakfast was nice and well stocked.
What made the stay for me was the staff. Every single person went out of their way to ensure the stay was as pleasant as possible and accommodated everyone's varied needs. They definitely made the whole stay the best.

Room Tip: If you want a view over the park you won't get the noise from the air con unit. We stayed in 125...

Me and my family went to London a wish trip from Canada. I was surprised by how much they accommodated my family. They were also very helpful with some typical tourist problems. It is also in a good location close to tube stations and dining. We had a fantastic view of Hyde Park.

I booked this hotel 6 months in advance. I don't like contemporary hotels and wanted a beautiful original building in London.

I couldn't have chosen better ! Beautiful Victorian hotel overlooking Kensington Park ( The Thistle Kensington is totally different and above a petrol station ). This hotel is only a short bus ride or 2 stops on underground to Oxford Street.

My partner and I arrived early and was informed that our room was available immediately ! We had been upgraded to a very large beautiful suite which overlooked the park. Stunning.

We left our cases and went for a cruise on the Thames. When we arrived back at the hotel we got ready for dinner and had a look around the hotel.

You walk into a small reception by a small lounge area. With piano comfy chairs and chandeliers ( which are everywhere ). Next to this was a bar area very comfy to. This leads through to restaurant. I booked dinner for both nights.

Hotel staff were throughout our stay, the most friendly, helpful and welcoming I have ever met. Nothing was too much trouble and they are all so accommodating.

The food was great with a great choice for dinner and the full English for breakfast.

On the Saturday we visited Sherlock Holmes museum where I proposed to my now fiance by the statue at the underground. We then travelled back to Kensington Gardens where my fiancé proposed to me at the Peter Pan statue. The day was perfect sunny and warm. We walked through the park to Harrods for afternoon tea.

Dinner that night was a surprise as my fiancé had arranged for some flowers for our table and some champagne. I was speechless.

I have no idea how the hotel managed to find 6 of the most beautiful red large roses in the space of a few hours ! Lots of the hotel team came over to congratulate us on our engagement. My fiancée and I decided to give the roses to a couple of the staff all of who had made our weekend so very special.

This hotel was just everything I expected it to be and made it all so very special.

Thankyou to everyone and my husband and I will be back.

Excellent location, close to tube, across the road from Hyde Park and a pleasant walk to Oxford Street.
Very pleasant staff on reception, and we were very pleased to be upgraded to a suite, with a lovely lounge and bedroom with a king size bed. Although on the back of the hotel, the room was very quiet indeed.
The only gripe ( only a small gripe) whilst the water in the bathroom was always very hot, the power on the shower was rather weak! But everything else more than compensated.
Would certainly stay at this hotel again.

Ok location, rooms and decor old style - no everyone's ideal - but all was in reasonable shape and working. Food was v good. Not my usual place - but would go if usual was not available. Near two main tube stops and opposite Hyde park. Room upgrade was good and room very spacious

We stayed here for 2 nights March 2014. When we finally arrived having had great difficulty finding the place, we were met by a very efficient and friendly young man on reception who informed us we had been upgraded to a deluxe room to which we were directed, not escorted. The room was fine, maybe a little tired and a little dark as the window looked out onto an internal service area. We then went down to the bar to get a snack and a drink. I would not recommend the sandwiches, the bread was stale and there was so much of it, around 3 to 4 rounds of thick bread each with too little filling. At £7.95 per person this was a rip off. We complained to the waiter when he came to clear the plates but I don't think he grasped what we were getting at.
On checkout we were presented with the bill and we explained to the very nice receptionist the incident with the sandwiches on day 1. She was very apologetic and quite rightly removed the cost from the bill, so no complaints with the outcome. I would recommend this hotel because of several points, the position, the welcome and the price £130 per night per room which seems very reasonable for London.
There is an entrance to the park right opposite the hotel and if you walk through for about 15 minutes you arrive at the Royal Albert Hall which was handy as we were attending a concert there.

Room Tip: We were at the back of the hotel which made the room a little dark but I would imagine that to enjoy...
