This is a great place. It's (finally!) got a great pizzeria / cafe run by a chain (and run well!) so the refreshments are much better (and you need them!). You could look at the building forever by itself (check out the animals crawling up the arches in the main hall).

The Blue Whale. The Dinosaurs. The old (and OK a bit faded) stuffed animals (What? You want new ones?). It's huge. We were headed elsewhere when the weather closed in on us, and we just had a great time wandering around (because it's HUGE) and looking at stuff.

A great day for the whole family!

Thank David A

This is worth seeing indeed and the Blue Whale is spectacular.
Fairly good visuals and displays. A bit let down as the hype made it sound really special.
Australian Museum in Sydney is better for displays and visuals.

Visited during Universities Week 2014. Excellent displays showcasing a range of scientific and social research. Some great drama and singing too!

I was truly impressed by the amount of exhibits this museum had. They had everything from how earth was formed, the common issues on earth (i.e. earthquakes, tsunamis, etc.), the animals of the planet and then everything else in between.

The museum itself is an amazing classical building that by itself is amazing to see!

The museum has all the exhibits well laid out and organized. I was amazed to see the "full size" blue whale that they had. From that you can see just how huge the blue whale is.

I would recommend visiting this museum if you have a chance. It is free to get into and well worth the visit!
