The rooms are large and impossibly charming, with cozy alcoves and built-ins. The bath was large, if a bit dated. The Mayfair location is terrific. And the staff is superb, with concierges who can probably get you into anything. The hotel does feel a bit crowded at times, with the dining room full at breakfast and shorts waits for the concierges when I was there.

Dear “FrankWeho”,

I am glad you enjoyed your experience and the Concierges send their regards.

We apologise if there were short waiting times - of course, this should not have happened.

With all good wishes,

Thomas

Class, exquisite, superb, magnificent - shall I go on? No need, this is quite simply the best 5 star luxury hotel in London. The staff, the service, the atmosphere, the decor - all absolutely marvellous. Go there for a special occasion - go there for Afternoon Tea - this is what real old style traditional and historic London is all about.

Room Tip: Just go there!

Staff are very nice and helpful from the moment you arrive. The hotel gives you a feeling of a personal, yet traditional almost like stepping back in time while your there.
Enjoyed my ride in the oldest, last remaining lift of its kind in London. Knowing so many famous legends have stood in that spot!

My only small gripe was the size of the room was small and very cold in the night. The rooms lighting was not good either, it was only lit by lamps. The chair in the corner of the room was also broke which shattered the standard of Claridges for me! The bathroom was luxurious but also small.
We paid £500 plus taxes and felt the room let the stay down a little.
You stay here for the experience of what Claridges offer. Luxury and tradition in a moden world.

However it was a lovely stay made enchanting by the Christmas decorations in the lobby and breakfast room.

Breakfast was very good, full english recomended, good tea & coffee and preserves. The service was a little slow, but we enjoyed not being rushed.

The staff make this hotel special. You can feel its a close knit enviroment.
Overall It was a lovely special experience.

Dear “danielletamara83”,

Thank you very much for your review and for saying that the team makes this hotel special.

I am a little concerned to read that your room had elements that needed attention. We naturally want everything to be perfect for our guests and I would be grateful if you could contact me on tkochs@claridges.co.uk in order for me to find out which room you stayed in.

With my thanks and good wishes,

Thomas

A hotel worth visiting and staying in for the wonderful preserved art deco features in the common areas, ballroom, bar--- the hotel too was very enjoyable.

Reading the Trip Advisor reviews it would seem to have been worth asking for an upgrade when checking in. We did not do so and the Room on the third floor facing the inner courtyard was quiet and quite adequate but nothing very special.

What did however spoil the enjoyment was the way the doors to the rooms in that corridor slammed shut (with Housekeeping too in the rooms) and this was a much less desirable feature of the hotel.

Nigel, too on the concierge desk could not have been more knowledgeable or more helpful in giving advice and arranging things.

The lift by Reception with the with the Operator and bench seat was fascinating. Still operating in its original format after 125 years, this was definitely a piece of history and something different to the usual modern computer controlled lifts everywhere else.

Finally, there was an article in Spectator Magazine 1 December 2012- page 78 which stated ; 'only Claridges which actually employs people to give customers dirty looks, is this rude to passing cash.' What nonsense is sometimes written. Everyone could not have been more friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: Not the third floor, where the doors slam shut

The room was fine and so was the service, but because of the ghastly requests you deal with from other guests there seems to be work men and people doing things all the time. I came he and wanted to relax not have people making adjustment at all hours!! What are you going to do about this?

Having moved from the hotel Mayfair due to disappointment we were more than happy at Claridges. This full of charm hotel delivered on every level. Having used the bar on many occasions before we wanted to stay at the hotel for some time and found the service from the door to our room excellent. We thank the bar staff especially Oliver and the girls for making us so welcome and attentive. We decided to try the restaurant and again were pleasantly impressed with the service, great food and atmosphere. Our room was a little tired but full of Edwardian charm but being a very late booking checking out of the Mayfair we were not too worried, I was told the rooms are being updated just now. Reception on check out we're wonderful making us feel so valued and it was great having an elevator operator who was polite and charming. We recommend checking out the foyer reception area just now the Christmas decorations are beautiful and so different. We will be back soon.

My son got married this weekend and we had the wedding meal at Claridge's Hotel in London. The hotel was full of beautiful Christmas decorations and had such a lovely feel. We went to Gordon Ramsey's at Claridge's for the meal. It was fantastic. The beef wellington was delicious the best beef I have eaten and the pudding to die for. Hot chocolate pudding oozing hot chocolate from the middle of this very soft cake. Magical. Would love to go back but have to save a lot.
