“Poor customer service”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 November 2013

Went for early evening drinks, and were told to wait for a table in a corridor!! After watching 2 couples be seated immediately, decided in this vast city full of wonderful bars and restaurants, nobody should cue for a glass of Champagne. Get over yourself, the Savoy, and teach communication and customare care to your staff!

Dear Guest,

I was disappointed to read that you were not able to enjoy a glass of champagne at The Savoy. We have two bars at the hotel and our team should have informed you of our Beaufort bar, a beautifully decadent and theatrical bar in the heart of the hotel and adjacent to the Thames Foyer.

Kindest regards,

Why on earth would anyone pay the money to stay here when there are so many other lovely hotels in London. The entire hotel is desperate for a massive upgrade. Dr Who wouldn't stay here in any time zone. The entrance and vestibule looked like a refugee camp and and one of the restaurants was stinking of fish, should it not smell of the sea? Anyway we walked in and straight out of the cocktail bar. What a sleazy experience.

This is a beautiful hotel with top class amenities. The room was large and had a fabulous view over the Thames and the gardens outside. The cocktail bar, Kaspar's, had fabulous cocktails and entertainment every night. Gorgeous shortbread and a fruit compote was the welcome gift in the hallway, and roll top bath and double shower were immaculately clean and just had to be sampled!
There was no snobbery at all amongst the staff (I arrived in shorts and a floaty vest top and was treat no differently to the glamorous ladies who also arrived!) and everyone was utterly helpful and charming. Pretty much perfect!!

Room Tip: We were in the part of the hotel with the original 'red lift'-the first electric lift in Lon...

Our room, was clean, bright and with lots of amenities. It was a bit on the small size so if you like to keep your belongings in your luggage, it was a bit tight. Elevators (the first elevators in a hotel in London!) are a bit on the slow side so there can be a wait. We had some electrical issues that were quickly resolved but required servicing in our room with staff and a ladder. At previous stays here I have had larger rooms so there is some variability here. We had a wonderful dinner at The Savoy Grill, which the reception was able to confirm a reservation even though we had just arrived 3 hours before dinner. Free wifi if you are member of Fairmont President's Club (it's free to join) so do not hesitate. Wish there was a kettle or coffee maker but there was no one available. Housekeeping very helpful and friendly.

We went to the hotel for one night during birthday celebrations , and must say , though its expensive, and on paper, the rooms don't really match up so well to the cost, the overall experience is definitely worth the money . The historic surroundings, pictures of famous guests past and present, the service, the staff making every guest feel like they are in a first class lounge , all add up to a memorably worthwhile stay . The decor is absolutely unbelievable, the rooms, though quite small are furnished to the highest possible standard . At the price they should have bathroom tv's , but you tend to overlook these things because the sum of all the various parts of the Savoy are so classy it's hard to be too critical . The American Bar had a great piano player to listen to while we enjoyed post dinner cocktails , and the real key of a great hotel is how well you can sleep, and I must say it was one of our best nights rest in ages, top marks to a wonderful hotel .

We had our wedding reception in a private room at the Savoy, and stayed over the night before. It's not secret that The Savoy is one of London's grand hotels, but how would it stack up against its reputation? Well, more than, in the event. Immaculate service at every level, we were treated as if we were regular guests. Kindly upgraded due to our wedding, we found ourselves in a very beautiful suite with butler service, and absolurly nothing was too much trouble. The bed and linen provided one of the finest nights sleep I've enjoyed in a hotel, breakfast in the room was perfect. If we asked, we received, and aside from the beauty of the hotel, it's this that makes it great. Would I stay again? Hell yes!

Room Tip: I think this depends on your budget, but I'd be suprised if there's a bad room at The Savoy...
