Truly wonderful and memorable experience. Service and ambiance is second to none. Rooms are extremely comfortable, as you would expect from the Savoy. Couldn't fault it at all, the whole package was just superb.

Where do I begin... We were booked in for an overnight stay in a deluxe king room. We arrived at the hotel early ( 11am) and were told our room was almost ready and were offered a tour of the hotel whilst we waited. We were given a complimentary upgrade to a junior suite, which was totally unexpected. The room was stunning with a bathroom to die for. From the minute we walked through the Door we were made to feel at home and the staff really made us feel that nothing was too much trouble, without being obtrusive. We had a pre theatre dinner in Kaspars, again the service and food was outstanding, our waitress Anna, was simply lovely, taking an interest in our plans for our stay and tending to our needs in an efficient and charming way, she even brought us a handmade 'happy anniversary' chocolate lollipop as it was our wedding anniversary. There was also a cake left in our room when we returned later. It is all these little touches that make the difference between a great stay and an unforgettable stay, and the staff certainly made our stay just that. I cannot find anything negative to say about the savoy. Simply superb.

What a wonderful afternoon we had at The Savoy! The hotel is just beautiful - full of history and different eras of decor. We had champagne in the America bar - a bottle of Louis Roederer at £72 - not cheap but divine! We had a glass there and then the waitress escorted us at our allocated time to the Beaufort Bar for our afternoon tea and to finish off the bottle! We had a perfect sport - the Beautfort Bar is adjacent to the Thames Foyer and, when the doors are fully opened it sort of the same room - but the decors are amazingly different. The Beaufort Bar is art deco, indulgence at its best - with subdued lighting and the most amazing little bar, which we had wished we had started our bottle at instead of the American Bar - ask and they will let you do this as we found out afterwards when talking to the Barman there. Look to the left of the bar and there is a display cabinet with the most unusual artefacts of the history of the hotel - the Barman was very informative on the antique crystal glasses and decanters in there and original cocktail books and recipes of the very first Barman at The Savoy!

We looked out from the Beaufort Bar into the Thames Foyer - a magnificent contrast! A beautiful atrium and below the pianist tinkling away to the occasional 'happy birthday'.

The waitresses were most attentive and our glasses and cups never ran dry. We chose 2 traditional afternoon teas and 1 high tea - they vary slightly in that one gives you a more savoury option and the other the more sweet. With the savoury was smoked salmon and scrambled eggs with melba toast, then crumpets with a selection of jams whilst the other was scones with cream/jam. Both had the same beautiful selection of finger sandwiches. Because we chose the 2 different teas we got to taste more of selection of the divine cakes and pastries. My personal favourite was the hazelnut and coffee souflee cake - of which I had 4!!! The waitress will bring you more of whatever you want or desire!

I chose the English breakfast tea and my daughter chose the Afternoon Tea blend which I actually preferred, but there are actually sooooo many teas to choose from!

We stayed for 3 hours and when we stepped back outside into the streets of London we all said how we felt we had been in a perfect 'bubble' of escapism, and felt we had stepped back into history, during that time! Wonderful experience!

p.s. We have done The Ritz afternoon tea previously but enjoyed this more!

Room Tip: Have a drink at the bar in the Beaufort Room!

Dear Guest,

Many thanks for taking the time to write such kind words following your Afternoon Tea Experience. I was so pleased to hear that you enjoyed the visit, and that your party were able to sample both traditional and high tea. As you have so kindly mentioned, The Beaufort Bar is very much an experience itself and I thoroughly recommend visiting in the evening and sampling the theatrical Character Cocktails. I look forward to sharing your review with the team and hopefully welcoming you back soon.

Kind regards,

Kiaran MacDonald

The recent investments in the grande dame cannot be denied. The public rooms are superb and the grill manages to retain its old charm. Guest room was, as ever very comfy and full of English charm updated with some cool technology. Sadly the plumbing has not improved, poor water pressure and even poorer drainage both from thrower and the lavatory. Not acceptable in these days and a these prices. The plumbing took me back to visits with my parents in the 60's...shame!

They made mistakes from the reservation to the afternoon tea and breakfast services. It's not what we'd expect from any 5-star hotel. They did try to fix the problems by comping us on the meal. However, we'd much rather have a good experience than a free meal. After all, it is the Savoy, not any 5-star hotel.

We had the pleasure of spending the weekend in this wonderful hotel. We have experienced The Ritz and Claridges however this experience overall out weighed these hotels. It has everything ! Foremost a refined and relaxed atmosphere from the minute we walked in. The staff are a credit to the hotel. We had a delightful afternoon tea in the Thames Foyer which was a fantastic experience. One has to try the cocktails in the American Bar again such a relaxing atmosphere. Dinner in Kaspar's was absolutely amazing and the girl who served us was a credit to the hotel. Food was incredible. Can highly recommend the champagne cocktail in the Beaufort Bar, again the staff there are fantastic and will try their best to accommodate clients who are staying in the hotel for a table. The 2nd night we dined in Gordon Ramsay's Grill room again the food was magnificent, although our favourite was Kaspar's. The hotel is within walking distance to Covent Garden, Theatre District and The Thames. Do not hesitate to book this wonderful hotel. You will not be disappointed.
