“A major research centre”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 July 2014

The Library is the kind of thing the British do as well as anyone. In addition to being a world class repository of books and related materials, it’s also a centre for exhibitions, we were there when a Georgian Britain exhibition was under way. It also provides the right space and atmosphere for serious research. Even in the café areas, quiet study pervades the tables, with the ubiquitous Apple logos shining out from numerous laptops.

“Nice Stop”

We didn't spend long in the galleries - just around an hour but I loved it. They have such a splendid collection. It's well worth a stop over!

“Fantastic exhibition”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 July 2014

The British Library is a fantastic resource and place to visit in it's own right. We went for the temporary exhibition 'Comics unmasked' and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. It was really well presented and we spent about 90 minutes going round and reading the captions describing a huge variety of British/British influenced comics and graphic novels. The collection spans precursors of the form in the 19th century up to present day and we came away with a long reading list!
Highly recommended.

“A treasure trove of the printed and written word”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 July 2014

The building itself is quite something. The Sir John Ritblat Gallery is a free exhibition of the some of the most worlds most iconic books and papers - Magna Carta with seal; music written in Mozarts own hand; a book cover embroidered by Queern Elizabeth I, etc. The Kings Library is wonderful just to see. An excellent shop and various coffee options.

“Well worth a visit”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 July 2014

Called into the British Library to have a look at the Comics Unmasked exhibition, hoping that it might be similar to the Lichtenstein retrospective at the Tate Modern in 2013. It is in fact very different. If you're interested in the history, both social and political, of the genre this exhibition is for you. It is, however, somewhat esoteric. That said the British Library is well worth a visit any time. It's so much more than shelves of books - the exhibits and displays are truly superb!
