LOVED it except....not even remotely enough manuscripts are presented. Given what they have they need 10 times the room to display things. VERY disappointed that the Luttrell Psalter and Sumer is icumen in - both ICONIC mss were not on display. Incredible to me that they are not on display. - What is there is wonderful but knowing how much more could be shown has you feeling like you just touched the surface. Highly recommended but be prepared for much smaller exhibition space than you might imagine. But go anyway!

The British library is awesome!
If you have any work to do, it's got all books from almost everywhere (so long as you are eligible for a readers pass)
If you're not they still have exhibitions, view some of the oldest books around and when it's sunny there's a great courtyard to eat and play table tennis..
Good way to spend a couple hours and free wifi too

Thank Bobby R

I didn't think this was going to be much more that a copy of the Magna Carta(which was awesome) but I was surprised to see so much more, like original song lyrics from the John Lennon and such...very cool

The British library is a modern building with air conditioning! That is a rarity in most buildings (museums) that we visited. But very much appreciated on a very warm summer day. We were there to visit the Treasures of the Ritblat Gallery. This is where the Magna Carta for display is located along with other wonderful literary works, religious, music & scientific writings of interest to the public. Very much worth your time to view. This is 100 anniversary of WWI, so the library also had WWI exhibit as well. There was a paid exhibit on comic books available which we passed on in favor of the manuscript "treasures." Worth the trip.

Dropped by to visit the First World War exhibition which was excellent. It quickly became evident that this massive building hosts more treasures than you can imagine. Must go back,
