I went on a Wednesday afternoon just to check out the Alice and wonderland exhibit that i overheard a conversation about on the train. I ended up staying for hours! The Alice exhibit was great, but I was in awe after seeing the vault of documents and books from the Beatles to Shakespeare! Phenomenal stuff! Then I went to the West Africa exhibition which happened to be open until 8pm that night, so I went in and it was almost like a party! There was music playing and lots of interesting things to read and beautiful instruments I never heard of. Must see.

Gosh an unexpected highlight - extremely rare and unique history of written communication across the ages , religions , topics and languages . Free displays on the first floor that are expertly laid out and explained . I found it enthralling .

Booked a guided tour of the library and it was well worth the £8 it cost. Our guide was well informed and his tour was full of anecdotes and insights into this amazing institution.Well worth a visit.

I took a tour of the West Africa Word, Symbol and Song exhibition at the British Library. Well worth a visit for anyone with an interest in West Africa. The curator tour was definitely worth the extra cost. A really interesting exhibition.
