Reviewed 18 September 2013

Just returned from a couple of weeks in the UK and we ended it with a return visit to the Draycott.
Previous reviewers have captured it well. It is calm, quietly elegant without being flashy and it has a homelike atmosphere. The hotel is comprised of three former town homes and is located a block from Sloane Square. The rooms have gas fireplaces, comfortable beds and seating , room for work at a desk and nice baths as well. The staff there is always really pleasant and helpful with questions, a dinner recommendation and reservation, an arrangement for tickets to a play etc...

Very nearby is terrific shopping and dining. It's easily within walking distance of Buckingham Palace, Trafalgar Sq,Picadilly, Knightsbridge, Harrods if you like walkabouts and the weather isn't a deterrent. The tube and and a taxi stand in Sloane Square make transport options easily accessible.

There are many many options for lodging in London. If you seek something with in house dining and bar service, this probably isn't the place. But if you are looking for a bit of serenity in the midst of a great city this would be a terrific choice. HIghly recommended.

Room Tip: I don't think there is a bad room there.

They Draycott is your "home away from home"! Spacious suites and bathrooms - although - they will differ in size. We've had one overlooking the private gardens in the back - as well as a lovely one in the front (entrance side) - both very pleasant - gas fireplace - a sofa - and recliner chairs - your own dvs and music system - if you are in the mood to stay in your room and tuck in - or enjoy a complimentary glass of champagne or "hot chocolate" in the "drawing room", downstairs. Here you will also find the "honesty bar", that holds an extensive selection of most brands. Extensive & expensive breakfast if you don't have it included - but then you do get "silver/butlerservice"! So go for it! We love the place and could happily move in permanently:) NB! The beds are "to die for" and the bedlinen crisp and pristine!

Our stay started off on the wrong foot when there was no one to assist us in getting our luggage up the entrance steps but once we stepped into our room-- "Olivier"-- we understood why this hotel has so many happy guests. The room was spacious-- inclusive of a sofa and armchair in front of a fireplace-- and the bathroom was almost as big.
Location is also fantastic. Not only are you just a few minutes walk from the Sloane Square tube but it's a quick walk to any of the wonderful shops and restaurants around Kings Road.
We also enjoyed a glass of champagne at 6 pm one evening as well as the hot chocolate and cookies that they put out at 9 pm. These are complimentary for guests.
On the down side, staying at the Draycott is for people who are in good shape and don't have a problem with stairs-- of which there are many in this labyrinth. Another negative: the price of its breakfast buffet (which is very nice) is a little steep so it's worth looking for a rate that includes breakfast as well or else taking a walk to one of the nearby cafès.

We stayed at this perfectly positioned central london boutique hotel in August 2013 and we were very happy with every aspect of our stay there The hotel in tucked away in an inconspicuous position on Sloane Square. The room we had felt like we were at home in london it was spacious with a large bathroom and a separate lounge although not a suite very roomy. The staff always at your disposal for every request. We would highly recommend the draycott to anyone wanting to experience the real traditional English london at its best. It has a beautiful garden to relax outdoors

Room Tip: The room we had is on the basement level with a door to the garden

Pro's:
- Decent location
- Good boutique feel to the hotel

Con's:
- Management extremely unfriendly with a terrible attitude towards customer service.
- Hidden extra charges. "Free cup of tea", except if you accidentally have the tea 15 minutes early (a 5 pound charge). None of this gets explained.
- Management isn't running this hotel for repeat service over the long term (i.e. unfriendly service). It feels as though they are looking to milk every dollar out of guests.

Overall: if you get this hotel for a low price and aren't worried about customer service, it is probably worth a shot. If you want peace of mind, and to be relaxed on vacation you can find much better-run places for the same (or less) money.

This is an exquisite place to stay, every bit as good as their website suggests and as others have reviewed. The service is brilliant and the attention to detail is superb. Anything that wasn't quite right was put right at once. Do be aware that the bath may be very deep and so difficult to get into, a step would be useful or an extra handrail. Also, strangely, there was no body lotion amidst the otherwise excellent toiletries. This hotel is expensive, so look for deals, or just splash out for a wonderful experience.

This is a lovely boutique hotel that provides a quintessential English atmosphere. The public rooms are spacious and well appointed. One opens onto the back garden – beautiful area. The layout is a little quirky, the result of combining existing buildings, but it adds to the charm. The lift is very small so be prepared to squeeze in! Our room (Richardson) was spacious with a delightful décor and a gas fireplace. The shower in the bathroom was unbelievably powerful. The tub is probably not appropriate for folks with mobility limitations as it is very high to get in and out.
The staff was truly fantastic. Everyone was very pleasant and helpful. They went above and beyond to make sure our stay was enjoyable and our needs were addressed. I cannot say enough about the hotel itself and the staff. Great place, look forward to returning.
