Jan had perfect combination of in-depth knowledge and ability to make history interesting. London is so immense, it was nice to focus on small area on foot. The walk encompassed the London Bridge, Boroughs Market on Saturday AM, Southwark Cathedral, Clink Prison, Golden Hinde, Shakespeare's Globe (old and new), a bit of Dickens and so much history from the Roman onward. We learned so much.

Great value for time and money.

Highly recommend this tour... The area of the city is so layered and fascinating, and the street at is ever changing. Local businesses support the artists and artists support the businesses. It's wonderful to get the history behind such a unique area where people don't fear street at as the downfall of civilization and instead embrace it's colour and commentary.
Pepe, the tour guide is from the area, has a wonderful and broad knowledge of the subject, both from a local and international perspective and he's clever and funny to boot. Recommended.

We went on the Hidden Pubs of London Town tour on a Tuesday evening. I was fantastic. I've lived in London all my life but learnt so much on this tour and went to places I had never been before.

The tour lasted for about 2 1/2 hours in which time you visit 2 pubs where you stay and have a drink for about 20 minutes. The tour did not actually focus on pubs that much, more the history of the part of London we were in, which I enjoyed. The tour guide was interesting and knowledgeable and kept our group of about 20 interested the whole time.

We arrived on a Sunday night in London and Monday morning met for the London Walks Tour of Westminster Abbey. There were SO many people waiting for this tour, and everyone was crowded around the guide trying to pay, so it was a bit daunting at first. However, this was an excellently organized tour. We were all marched to the Abbey and from there divided into smaller groups of no more than 20 (the Abbey will not allow larger groups to tour, which is nice!). We had about a 2 hour tour of the Abbey and our guide really knew his stuff and made the tour fun. It is crowded in the Abbey, and of course you have to keep moving with your guide, but we saw and learned quite a bit. Our two daughters were a bit tired by the end of it all (13 and 16 years old), but they did remember quite a bit when we talked about our trip. Not sure if this would be something for families with little children, because it is fairly long and packed with lots of information.

Our group took the Jack the Ripper tour, which must be their most popular, but I highly recommend branching out. We took the Ghosts tour on Tuesday night and it was even better than the Jack the Ripper tour. The smaller group was preferable and our guide was highly animated and knowledgable. She took us to quite a few "behind the scenes" spots that tourists would never find simply because they are steps from the main street. One of my favorite activities and quite reasonably priced.
