Well worth the reputation, this was recommended to me and I share that recommendation. Friendly, knowledgeable guides sowing you some of the best sights and some unexpected treasures that you may have walked past otherwise. Like gas lights- who knew?! Thumbs up especially to Peter, who was a mixture of 'gravity and waggery'.

London Walks provide a whole series of guided walks around parts of London. We went on the Old Palace Quarter walk. There's no need to book - just meet at the designated rendezvous (always near a Tube station) and hand over your £10 (or whatever). We were blessed with a beautiful autumnal Friday afternoon. Our walk started near Green Park Tube station. Our guide Peter was there to collect our money and take us on our journey through the past and present. He was thoroughly entertaining, a great story-teller and extremely knowledgeable. The walk took just over 2 hours as Peter took us to places steeped in historic and present-day scandal - who knew that Princess Diana's first appearance in public after the announcement of her divorce was coming out of Duke's Hotel or that there is an amazing Grinling Gibbons carving in St. James Church or the significance of St James's Palace to Britain's constitution? We ducked down alleyways into hidden corners of this part of London which simply breathed history. This was our first experience of London Walks but won't be our last. We are already looking forward to our next visit to the capital when we will turn up for our next London Walk. Highly recommended,

Met my son at Embankment for the start of this guided tour of all things I K Brunel.
The first huge treat was the boat ride down to Greenwich area. The sun was out and the guide was constantly pointing out details along the route. We then walked along the river side in areas I've never seen and so much to take in. The Brunel museum is a work in progress but finishes the walk with lots of information on this Great British Engineer. Highly recommended.

I've been on several of London Walks' walks ... once you start it's almost addictive!
The guides are very good at what they do with some of them being exceptional. The walks are entertaining, colourful, informative and give you this special "insider's feeling". A small complaint is that sometimes some of the highlights in the description are omitted.
(In terms of content, the tour that I liked the most was Darkest Victorian London.)

We went on the disastrous London tour which we both thought was fantastic.

We were a large tour group but our guide Simon was great. He new all his facts and projected his voice well and was really enthusiastic.

If you went sightseeing in London yourself you would never see or learn of the history of some of these places.

To see shrapnel damage on a building from a first world war zeppelin raid for example is real history.

Do not be put off by the length of the tour. Two hours sounds a lot but there are plenty of stops along the way and in our case some liquid refreshment stops as well.

Will definately do more London walks.
