This monumental column with Nelsons posed statute on top, is a reflection of British Empire and Standing of the ages past, an example of the might that was.

We walked past the square early July when a large stage had been erected we didn't stop but it looked like a rehearsal taking place

When you hear about Nelson's column, the great British admiral, and national hero, you conjure images of an imposing monument. When you get there you see a very thin column with a little man on top. You can't really see him... But the square is nice and the lions under the column make kids (and adults) delights for a photo opp.

The column is a worthy memorial to a great hero..... the pigeons and tourists give a nice view. The square which the column sits is massive and its proximity to the British Museum is great.

People tend to view Trafalgar Square and Nelson’s Column synonymously. In fact, the column is what Nelson’s statue stands on, and the square contains the column and much more. It’s the same difference as the statue of Eros and Piccadilly Circus.

So as an attraction, there’s not much to the column itself, you should be looking for the Trafalgar Square reviews. In fact, because it’s so tall, the best way to see Nelson’s Column, and the statue of Lord Nelson, is from somewhere else, where you can get a complete view of it.
