I assess my awards of five stars against my favourite hotel and so i dont give it often but found reviewing the Halkin particularly interesting. Its not my favourite hotel but i have to give them five stars because they didn't do anything wrong on the contrary the staff go the extra mile to do everything right. If i wanted a quiet luxury retreat, great location not far from Knightsbridge the Thames and many other London Attractions it might be at the top of my list.
From the moment we arrived you feel like you matter and the staff ( some of the finest we have met are a real asset to the hotel) go out of their way to make everything as perfect as possible during your stay.
The bar reflects the hotel for me small personal quiet and tasteful.
The bar staff made amazing cocktails we went in for pre dinner and for one last drink before we left, if you wanted peace and quiet they left you alone but if you wished to engage in conversation know more about the drinks or just for them to be sociable they moved into that mode with a genuine ease.
We ate in the Ametza restaurant and had the taster menu and accompanying wines, once again the staff went to great lengths to take you on a culinary journey sharing their passion for Spanish food and wine with you. Rooms are well equipped furnished and beds and bedding very comfortable. Breakfast the following morning was lovely and unlike a number hotels with the uncooked parts of breakfast done as help yourself everything is done to personal order and brought to your table i got the impression if you moved for something they would have been horrified.. Not cheap but quality tends to cost. For me it was a lovely experience but i prefer places with a little bit more atmosphere The greatest testament for the hotel is it was obvious to us that some guests used it as a regular stop over in the Capital if you can afford and want peace and quiet i can understand why.
