This small hotel is very weel located near Nottin Hill gate subway station. It is in a typically London street. It is very clean and the staff is good. But for the price (572 € for 2 nights) he bed room is not very large and the bathroom is so small : as small as in a boat and the washbasin loks like the one we have in our restroom !!! The continental breakfast is very correct but if you want an englis breafast you have to pay. It will be good if the price was less expensive.

Second time we have stayed here, asked for same room as before & we were assured it. I have stayed in big 5* hotels as well as tiny guest houses, The Portobello is the least pretentious place I've ever stayed. I'm sure whether you are famous or Mr & Mrs average like me & my husband, you're treated the same. Warm welcome, nothing is too much trouble & the rooms are eclectic & very comfortable. A joy to stay there.

This is one of my favorite hotels to stay in London and we've stayed there a lot. It has very warm and homely rooms, with gorgeous colours and the hotel is well-designed. The staff are very helpful and kind. They keep it very clean! It's in the best location also!
They recommended us a great restaurant, we then had a jacuzzi and had a good night's sleep. The next day we visited Portobello Road and did a spot of shopping. Highly recommended if you're staying in London.

We stayed in the hotel for 5 nights, two weeks ago, and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The position is central yet quiet and in a very decent area of Notting Hill. It is in easy walking distance of Portobello Road, the Bus and Tube station.

The standard of the Hotel is really good, it is like being a guest in a private stately home. It is a small boutique hotel with personal care and attention. The reception is staffed by mature well presented ladies who go out of their way to assist guests with restaurant suggestions and booking, places of interest to visit, organising taxi's and transfers to the airport. They require special mention as they far exceed the norm and were very helpful and went out of their way to ensure our stay was enjoyable and comfortable. The reception is manned 24 hours a day by these ladies so one has a feeling a security and care when returning. The staff compliment is small and focused.

I would recommend Portobello Hotel and will be a regular guest in future.

Room Tip: The reception staff will provide a detailed description by email and recommend the best available. E...

We stayed in the victorian four poster bed room. Wow what a room, just beautiful. The whole place has such a lovely feel to it. Its romantic, classy and decadent.
It was my birthday when we stayed and we had lunch at their sister company "julies restaurant" when we arrived, the lady that worked at the hotel paid for a glass of champagne for us as it was my birthday. A lovely genuine touch. A wonderful weekend inc the restaurant which was out of this world. Really love this hotel and would stay again!. Lovely breakfast, good service, clean and comfortable.

Great location in a quiet street and free parking after midday on Saturday. A one-night stay whilst attending a function locally this hotel is quirky but tired. First the poor stuff: The hotel needs some decoration as everything is looking tired. The balcony rail is rusty and peeling and the hotel needs a new concierge arrangement as the lobby was literally filled with other guests bags when we arrived. A bit of friendliness from the reception staff wouldn't go amiss either - no offer to help with bags just "here's the key and there is the lift!". Ok. Room service was apparently 'no problem' except that it arrived with only half the order. We weren't charged for the missing half at least. Although the bath is a centre piece the closet sized shower looks like it was reclaimed from a 1970's council make-over.

The room was great. The round bed doesn't quite fit in the middle of the room but was extremely comfortable and the bizarre Victorian bath was a ral talking point. Very large and very deep for multiple bathing if you wish! It's worth a night but I probably wouldn't stay here again until it was refurbished.

Room Tip: Room 16 with the round bed, view over the park and very quirky bath!

We just concluded our stay at the Portobello hotel yesterday. We were concerned after reading the reviews about the laptop that had gone missing. So sorry to hear of this guys misfortune with his laptop but we had no problems at all with security. The staff was great. They were friendly, hip, out going and very helpful. We left our Ipad and my new MacBook Air in the room all day long while we were out each day. Nothing in our room went missing.
If you are looking for a sterile mass marketed environment as in a Hilton or Sheraton this might not be the place for you. We chose this hotel for the quirky, elegant and charming environment that it offers. The real antiques and tasteful decor added to the cozy ambience. The location couldn't be better for us and the Portobello Road Market. We will definitely return. We wish to thank the staff for being so helpful.

Room Tip: Room 16 was charming with a great view of the park.
