What to say of the One Aldwych? Fantastic location. Trendy interiors. Amazing facilities - from the lobby bar to the gym. Flawless service. Cozy, well designed rooms and bathrooms. I loved everything about it and have made it my hotel of choice in London.

I can't believe it's taken me this long to write this review about this beautiful hotel with the best service I've experienced in London.
Firstly the location is superb, near to Covent Garden, Theatreland, the embankment etc etc. The hotel is a beautiful building and beautifully appointed within. It oozes class and luxury.
The warm welcome from the concierge was extended to the lovely, professional but warm, people we met on reception.
We stayed over New Year and were treated to an upgrade complimentary of the hotel which was great considering how busy they were. The fresh fruit and the lovely handwritten notes in the room from the management were a pleasant touch, the beds were so comfortable that I wanted to never leave them, and the bathroom had everything we needed including a personal tv screen so you could really spend forever soaking in the lovely tub.
Without doubt it was the service that sets this hotel apart, the people who work for One Aldwych are polished, polite, friendly in a very natural way, and really understand customer service. They do not gush or fawn over their guests but instead very professionally make sure that you are feeling looked after and that you have everything you need. My husband needed to see an emergency dentist on New Year's Day and they efficiently sorted this out for us.
Finally the cocktails in the bar area are to die for and the bar has a lovely buzzy feel to it making it a welcome retreat from the cold, bustling outdoors.
Quite simply, One Aldwych is everything a 5* hotel should strive to be and the management and their employees should be very proud.

I love staying here, the beds are really comfortable and you wake up in the morning finding it hard to believe you are away from home. The rooms are designed for comfort and have Bang and Olufsen TV's, a mini Bowers and Wilkins ipod dock. The lighting in the rooms are well thought out. The bathrooms are lovely. Decent bath, separate shower - just lovely. This place is plush, and you pay more for a room than the Waldorf Hilton a few doors down, but...... and here is the but....there are no altruistic efforts on display here. The service from all staff is impeccable but understated, noticeable but not in your face.

The last time i cam here was my birthday in March. We were taken up to our room by one of the reception staff, who said to my partner it had been a while since we stayed there. It came up in conversation that it was my birthday...... having been out we arrived back at the room to discover a lovely bottle of bubbly and some chocolates. A nice touch. The hotel is only a short walk away from covent garden and most of the theatres - as well as the london eye.

Great location and fantastic service. Recently renovated to be environmentally friendly.
The problem was flushing the toilet. It required a few tries, not convenient when in a hurry and sharing the room.

Just back from a nearly two week stay at One Aldwych. Have stayed at many hotels in London and this is one of the best - from the decent sized rooms, to personalized service, extensive room service menu (prompt service) and location. As I was there for a number of days they offered a discount on laundry, provided complimentary wine and sweets during my stay. They also left a note in the room every couple days stating that they hoped I was having a lovely stay and to contact them for anything.

Only minor fault was they hid the safe so well that I had to call reception to ask where it was (though you could probably call this a positive comment).

Great hotel, no issues, would recommend it to anyone.

There was a bit of disappointment when we arrived to find we were booked into an Executive Room and not an Executive Suite. However, Yolanta from the front desk who showed us to our room quickly suggested that she could see if there was another room more to our liking in the same category or we could upgrade to a deluxe room. We opted to move to another executive room which was a bit larger and brighter so it was fine. The only difference between a standard room and an executive one is that it has a separate shower stall, but I was expecting a suite as I wrongly assumed that from checking out the One Aldwych Website before booking on expedia.

Anyway, the location was perfect as we were able to walk to the London Eye, Chinatown, Covent Garden, National Gallery and Buckingham Palace quite easily.

The decor in the hotel is very luxurious and modern which was a welcome change after spending time in the country pubs and traditionally decorated inns in the Costwolds and Midland areas.

We didn't have drinks in the lobby bar (which was very busy most of the time) as it was really expensive at £10.50 for a martini or glass of champagne, but that's quite standard for a hotel of this calibre. We went to the pub next door instead called The Wellington and to other restaurants in the area and it was much more affordable and it was great for people watching as they have a fairly large patio on a busy street (The Strand).

I agree with one of the other reviewers that the water system in the bathroom is really noisy and you can hear it from the rooms next door as well.

All in all, it was a great place to stay and would stay there again.

My Husband and I stayed in this hotel over night last Saturday.

Everythng was great until Sunday morning.

We went into breakfast only to be completely ignored by the 2 members of staff.

10 mins later, Still ignored - we left. ....With no breakfast

What a disaster !!

Its not as if they were busy, they were too interested talking to each other.
