I only stayed here for 2 nights, but the food, cocktails and service were just superb. Not stuffy like the Dorchester just up the road, but with the same standards upheld. The ops guy Andrew went out of his way on more than one occasion, but didn't bat an eyelid. Stunning views. I will go back.

The Metropolitan is fantastic! It is very modern and clean. There is some street noise from the club next door, but the overall experience of the hotel is very relaxing.

i booked with the metropolitan hotel on this last trip to london after walking by it the last time i was there (november 2008). i remember liking the location and the fact that there was a nobu restaurant, so it went into the notebook as a future place to stay. on my last trip, i was at the mandarin oriental, which was fantastic, but was perhaps an older crowd (and out of my company's budget for this trip). fortunately, the metropolitan was within the budget.

i booked through tablethotels.com, where the metropolitan is a featured "tablet plus" hotel, which means that tablet plus members can get certain perks, the most important of which are an upgrade if available and (very important) 4 p.m. late checkout.

i took the redeye out and arrived around 6 am at LHR so the first thing i wanted to do was check into the hotel. fortunately, the hotel was able to accommodate me and even upgraded me to a better room with a small balcony facing the hilton next door with a decent view of hyde park.

the room was reasonably sized and all the amenities were there. the decor is more modern than the mandarin, which i liked. service was very good throughout--not too much, and not too little.

room service was good, and it was easy to get around from the location.

i even bumped into dean deleo, the guitarist from stone temple pilots, in the elevator on the way down to dinner at nobu. how cool is that? lest that be a deterrent, don't let it be. the hotel was remarkably quiet and peaceful.

i'd come here again, next time with the girl.

OK, you are in the heart of Mayfair, in a small quiet rather non-descript hotel (very reserved, yet modern). Then BOOM, through a door and you are in the MetBar one of the best clubs in the the country! or, up a floor and in Nobu, the best Japanese restaurant in the world. Quieit rooms, weird bathrooms (very modern), Some noise from the street, otherwise fantastic. An experience unlike anything I've experienced in London. Would go back in a flash. Fab staff. Great biz centre, almost like having your own office.
