“Avoid this place”

I randomly picked up this place as close to kings cross. Terrible staff at bar, internet is very expensive, there are ponds on the toilets' floors, super extra noisy at night. You cant even take a proper shower as u need to keep a water tap pressed (even whilst you're taking the shower...?!?!). Rooms are dirty and people are squeezed in it. I headed somewhere else as soon as I could!

Myself and my girlfriend stayed in a double room here for 4 nights. Double room was a set of bunk beds.(we did know this when we booked it) However the room was the smallest room i have ever stayed in....anywhere!! It was about the size of a cabin on a sleeper train. There was literally enough space for the bunk beds and the door to open and that was it. The bathroom was shared. The walls were paper thin and there was loud rave music until the early hours of the morning. The room was also on the top floor which meant climbing steep stairs for what seemed like forever.
The location was good in that it was very close to kings cross station and then only a couple of stops to Picadilly circus. However the area felt quite seedy and dodgy at night. A lot of bums and prostitutes.
We also got breakfast which in fairness was delicious but was the best bit of our stay.
I must add that the staff were nice.
Overall it wasnt cheap but nowhere in London is. However where i coming to london again i wouldnt stay here.

Stayed there for a few days as it is very close to Kings Cross station. The service provided is terrible, the manager& other members of the staff are not welcoming at all. It is filty (specially the toilets) & there is a small pub incorporated in the hostel, managed by random people who (again) don't know how make you feel welcome. The staff at pub in particular can be very rude. The breakfast is always cold and tbh after eating the bacon the 1st morming I couldn't eat it any more the following days. To be avoided at all costs

This is the second time I have stayed in this hostel, last time being early June 2012. I would say the hostel has gone down somewhat since then. I stayed in the 16 bed female dorm for two nights.

+ves: The beds and duvets are very comfy, everything is clean including the bathrooms, lockers are included (but bring a padlock), everything feels quite safe and there is breakfast included. The location of this hostel is by far its best asset. It is only a few steps from Kings Cross which has fantastic links to the rest of London, a great base to have. I never had to wait for a shower. Staff were very friendly.

-ves: The beds creak a lot, if you have a wriggler above you then I guarantee that you will wake up every few hours. The traffic noise is quite bad if you aren't used to it (bring earplugs), ask for beds 1-8 in the 16 female dorm, as these are a little quieter, although you will still be plagued by sirens at all times of the night. One big thing when I was there, there was a 4am fire alarm. There seemed to be no procedure, no one knew what they were doing, so I dread to think of the case there was a real full blown fire. At the time I stayed, the upstairs green bathroom with the decent shower was out of order. This was a huge huge negative. The other female toilet/showers are cold, drafty, there is mould all over the ceiling, and the shower is an automatic sensored one which does not stay on for longer than 10 seconds. Not good if you want to wash your hair. It does for a very quick wash but no more. Breakfast is an issue in this hostel, on a weekday get there before 9am. On a weekend when the hostel is busier I recommend get there at 8am. One of the days there was no bread left, no cooked food, the milk was sour and off, and the fruit was lacking - I had to go out for breakfast. The breakfast is also worse than Tesco value/Sainsburys basics, the quality of everything is extremely poor. Although, for the price you can't expect much.

Overall:

I preferred my stay in June, I felt the hostel bathrooms especially have gone downhill and the hostel is in need of a bit of work. I was disappointed with the breakfast quality, however pleasantly surprised at the comfy beds, just a shame they are creaky.

Stayed in one of the rooms in the basement. The rooms were ok, quite cold but that's always in the UK. It wasn't anything special, just a room with beds, but it was clean. The staff was friendly and helpful and the location was good right next to the underground. The breakfast was quite poor. What we however really hated was that there was a pub "flying scotsmen" or something similar right above our room. So we could hear people partying until 1 o'clock at night, which was ok because we weren't in the room so much during the night, but the cleaners arrived at the pub really early, like at 6 in the morning and started (what it sounded like) throwing chairs and tables everywhere. We did not get a single good night sleep at the Keystone House. Would not stay there again just because of this.

Stayed there for two days, nothing fancy but the crew was very helpful, the beds where comfortable and the room had good temperature.
the showers are OK, nothing to write home about but you have your privacy even that there where 3 showers in the same room and never had to wait in line.

we where in a room for six and the other peoples where very nice and considerate.
bottom line, if you want to stay at the central and not pay too much this is a great place.

I'm used to hostels but this place wasn't great for the price we paid. Even though we paid for a two-person room (bunk bed), we might as well should have stayed in a dorm. Walls were thin, we could not talk in our room because neighbours could hear us. There were no windows in our room and it felt stuffy.

I have to say great location and convenient for public transport but that's the only plus point.

Just know what you're getting yourself into before booking this hostel.
