To just be able to walk in and enjoy whatever period of art is always a pleasure. Although a busy place, there is always a place to stand- or sit and enjoy the paintings.

It was an unplanned visit but turned out to be a pleasant one. The collect is very good (may not match the Louvre) and categorised nicely for convenience

I think this is one of the best art galleries in the world and I really appreciated the fact that they don't charge any entrance fee. I come from Russia and there are almost no museums or galleries that are free to visit. Moreover, they charge foreigners more than Russian citizens. That is why I think everyone should make a donation upon leaving the National Gallery and contribute as much money as one can give and wants to give.
I liked everything about visiting the gallery - its location, the selection of paitnings (it was such a pleasure to see so many of my favourites!), the cozy smell of coffee and the shop. As one of the reviewers mentioned here, the map is very well laid out and I cannot agree more! Navigation there is very easy and it makes it possible to wander less and see what you really want to see more.

Absolutely unmissable! I could walk round the gallery for hours, just gazing in wonder at the beauty on the walls. The building itself is also stunning.

So many lovely paintings to see for no cost. There are special exhibitions too but it is worth a wander if you have time to spare.
