Covent Garden is one of those places that pretty much does everything right. The staff are brilliant - utterly professional but friendly too, and we are always welcomed back like we're coming home. The rooms are stunning, with fabulous design and wonderful bathrooms. The beds are huge and ludicrously comfortable - just the softest sheets and fluffiest duvets! The restaurant food is lovely, and being able to mix it up with the bar menu covers all bases. Room service has the same menus to choose from, so you don't miss out on anything. As with most hotels, there's a little residual noise from rooms above (maybe it's just our luck in always seeming to be beneath someone who gets the urge to move the furniture around at 4am) but this is a relatively small quibble. The hotel have always gone out of their way to accommodate the smallest or daftest request. There's nowhere else in London I'd rather stay. The spa is small and appointments mostly necessary but again, the staff have always found a way to help with last-minute requests and the spa staff are wonderful, too. The only thing that could make this place any better would be a pool!

We make a trip to London once a year, and would not think of staying anywhere else. The welcome is always exceptional - from arrival, to event organisation, to breakfast and all the way to departure - in fact after departure when I came to meet friends my shopping bags were collected by Kathryn in the restaurant, and looked after until I was ready to leave. They have got it all so right - design is evident everywhere you look, but instead of being cool The Covent Garden is all about warmth - so much cooler!

We have stayed here twice now and both times the rooms and service have been wonderful. The staff are courteous and friendly, the bar perfect for late drinks and food. Ideally located for theatres bars, restaurants and shopping. Only minor criticism for us is the breakfast but not a problem as plenty of other places to eat nearby. We will definitely return on our next visit to London.

Room Tip: Have a room facing Monmouth street not the main road which is pretty noisy.

Perfect location for theatreland, lots of bars and restaurants close at hand. Room was lovely, big by London standards ( we upgraded). Decent breakfast, reasonably lively bar for a post show drink. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

I LOVE this hotel for so many reasons! The people that work there are incredibly gracious and friendly, they are truly a pleasure. The rooms are decorated in luscious fabrics, comfortable beds, lovely bathrooms and they are spacious, even the Queen rooms have decent closet space, but if you want more space stay in a larger room. There is a generous supply of Miller Harris products in the bathroom and always a personalized note greeting you upon arrival along with a small gift. If you join the design hotels group you will get your breakfast and wifi included in the price. Yes, the prices are high but it is so worth it and by the way, the prices are lower than any of the grand dame hotels and I am certain not as personable. Take a walk around Covent Garden and of course, many of the museums and theatres are close by.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
The Covent Garden Hotel opened in April 1996 but the building dates back to the 1890’s when it operated as a French hospital. It is located in Monmouth Street, a charming cobbled street in the heart of the theatre district and surrounded by interesting boutiques, restaurants, cafes and bars. Covent Garden Hotel is "a quirky modern take on traditional English style." The hotel's interior has been dramatically designed by owner and design director Kit Kemp, and reflects her personal attention to detail. The ground floor is just like a stage set. A quietly bustling lobby leads into Brasserie Max, the hotel’s bar and restaurant. Up a sweeping stone staircase and into a sumptuous wood paneled drawing room and library, each with a log burning fireplace, quirky furniture and vivid upholstery. Downstairs there is a gym, private event space and a screening room. ... more   less
