“Um...I like weird and unique but wow!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 July 2014

We were so excited to stay in this hotel. The pictures are fantastic, unique, quirky, all things my husband I adore. But we ended up paying $195 to stay in a room that was approximately tiny, cramped, and about 100 degrees F.

Pros---It really was quirky with things to look at all over the place. I did love that part
-the staff member who checked us in was very nice and helpful. They let us keep our luggage in a hallway until our room was ready
-our wifi worked great
-location was ok, not too far from Edgware tube station.
-the free breakfast was nice and fresh and there before 7:00 (we left early to go to the airport)

Cons--- our room wasn't ready until 4:00.
-It was on the 4th floor, no lift, narrow hallways.
-The room was HOT! there was a fan which when plugged in to the single outlet in the room shook so bad it wouldn't stay on the table.
-The mattresses were so old you could feel the springs even though the duvets.
-There was a guy outside sawing some metal until 23:30
-There was one extra outlet in the whole room for charging phones and things
-One of the beds was broken so when you sat down the whole thing swayed back and forth

The kicker--- this hotel could be so much better. Some new mattresses. Fans that work. Tighten a few screws. I know they can't do anything about not having a lift but offering to help with the bags might have been nice. It's a great concept for a hotel that just needs a little sprucing up.

Me & my friend were slightly apprehensive about staying here after reading the reviews but we were pleasantly surprised!! We stayed in the basement, a room called cosmic girl, it was a little dark but it was fine. Neat and tidy and had everything we needed including a fan! A few lights out and one plug socket not working but that didn't bother us. Tea & coffee facilities in the room & breakfast was great! The hotel was nice and quiet at night and staff were okay... If i was to stay again I would ask for a basement room as these seem to have the better reviews

We ended up in a basement room called Chapter & Verse. Nice decor from a distance but up close everything was really not very clean and highly impractical. There was some odd fringe hanging down on the bed, looks nice but you will begin each morning by untangling yourself. The bedspread was vile, stained and holey. The room was so dark I couldn't see to look presentable at the start of every day. and the plugs were impractically far from mirrors and lights. The ensuite bathroom was a cupboard with doors that didn't shut correctly.
On the other hand the breakfasts were nice, the staff were really kind, and the location was really good for what we needed.
To sum up, you can find somewhere better for a better price!

Room Tip: Not Chapter & Verse

Pro's:- the rooms were all unique with very imaginative decoration. Ideal location for central London, off-street parking, en-suite, quirky & unusual.

Cons- small rooms and even smaller en-suite. Too "cluttered". Bed was very hard and uncomfortable. Room was very dark and traffic was noisy. Staff were polite but no-one helped us with our cases - we were up three flights of stairs (no lift). Wifi didn't stretch further than the ground floor.

Room Tip: You cannot select the room you want, so best to just ask for a large room, if there is one!

Dirty junk shop would be all I could describe it as. We were offered a choice of 2 double rooms. Double is stretching the imagination. Dark oppressive small shoebox with a 3/4 bed at best. The bathroom isn't a room it's a cupboard. Decided not to stay and lose the money instead rather than ruining our weekend. Got a great room on lastminute.com secret hotel for the same price that was a genuine 4 star. I wouldn't give this 1 star

Good value room for the night however it was overly hot. The room was wallpapered from floor to and over the ceiling making it looked like you were boxed in. The single bed was damaged but ok for the 1 night - bed linen was crisp and clean. The electrics in the room were slightly worrying - television tuned itself off mid news!
the en-suite was something I'd expect to see in a caravan. Im not certain what the rest of the rooms were like - I did like the look of the place, the staff were friendly enough and I guess as it was cheap n cheerful - I got what Id paid for, would I use this place again, maybe but not the room I had!

Room Tip: Higher floors appeared to be the hottest ones!
