“Amazing atmosphere and street artists”
Reviewed 21 June 2014 via mobile

You can while away many hours in Covent Garden, just looking in the hundreds of shops, eating at many of the little cafés or just watching the many street artists which may be performing. While I was having a coffee in one of the sunk cafés, I woman was singing opera, and she was amazing and the acoustics were brilliant. The market at the bottom near the strand hold many hidden treasures and handmade goods at very reasonable prices. My hotel is a literal 30 second walk so it is perfect for an early morning coffee while it is quiet. I can not recommend it enough.

“Action all the way”
Reviewed 20 June 2014

Non stop entertainment, restaurants, bars, show stoppers from street entertainers, and a host of shops and market traders.
A must if you visit London but be aware the prices at the various restaurants seem to increase the closer you get to Covent Garden central!

“Not Overrated, Good Fun”
Reviewed 20 June 2014 via mobile

Studying abroad in London, this became one of our favorite places to stroll on a weekend afternoon.

Yes, there are streets full of people, but that's part of the excitement of the area. Toss a coin or two to the street performers (some are genuinely very talented), grab some ice cream and people watch, stroll through the shops, or grab a bite to eat in this great little market.

It's a lovely way to spend an afternoon or - at the very least - worth passing through.

“Vibrant place to shop, eat and just wander around!”
Reviewed 20 June 2014

I soaked in the lovely Covent garden market atmosphere on a bank holiday Monday in May this year, travelling solo for a business trip. It was a half-day well spent!

There are 2 actual markets i saw, one was the antiques & collectibles kind of market, with stalls by different sellers. The other, main marketplace boasted of a slew of high-end shops including l'Occitane, Crabtree & Evelyn and even Chanel if i remember correctly, in addition to a lot of wonderful places to eat! In the middle of this market as well, there are a lot of open stalls selling jewellery & other miscellaneous knick-knacks. After you are done wandering around, you can feast on some lovely paella and sangria at Hola Paella, which is in the Lower Piazza (next to Punch & Judy Pub). You need to climb down to the lower level of the market to see the huge open pan of paella right in the centre of the courtyard. For dessert, take your pick from the colourful macarons at Laduree, or go for the Godiva chocolate treats instead!

There is also a cobbled stone square around the main marketplace, which attracts a lot of live musicians & performers, thereby giving the market its upbeat, vibrant mood & setting.

All in all, Covent garden market is a wonderful place to visit, spend half a day or more soaking in the lovely happy environment, even when you are a solo traveller with not much to do!
